Anyway, swimwear is a topic filled with personal preferences -- one can't always assume that just because someone chooses a suit of a particular type (for example, a one-piece suit in my case) it's because they "couldn't" wear something else if they chose to do so!

Oh my goodness, if this is the same swimsuit, it's much different than I envisioned. I do think the top would float when you swim.
