Do you have a recommendation for a body shaper?

I recently bought a dress for an upcoming event that is a bit form-fitting and out of my comfort zone.

I should, but I never wear any kind of shaper, so this is unchartered territory. Do you have a recommendation?  I would like a garment that will "erase" any bra/panty lines, but I do not want to deal with those pesky snapping crotches.  What about a slip--do they work?

Any suggestions you might have are appreciated.

Go to Spanx.com.  They have something for every occasion and every challenge and every outfit.   Even slips that are shapers.

I really like this one A234054 . The one I have isn't the full back coverage but other than that it's the same. (mine has spaghetti straps) What I really like about it is that it doesn't flatten the bust area. Most shapers I see have the same compression fabric across the bust flattening you out. This one doesn't.

No crotch snaps to deal with either. I don't have any trouble with it staying down. I have never worn it with a dress, though.

I have a muffin top and it really helps with that.

Sorry I don't know how to make a link to it.

@magicmoodz... The last time I wore a body shaper it was the long-line panty style by Spanx that was so thin it didn't bother me at all. The SA at Nordstrom guided me in this. I was surprised that it was so gossamer.

Spanx is a great line but its' sister line called Assets that is sold at Target is also a good option.

I really like Heather Thomson's Yummie line. Check out HSN for better than Nordstrom/department store pricing. Her shape wear TS offers are fantastic. I love her shaping tanks-wear one almost daily.

I've adore the Spanx 'Trust Your Thinstincts' line.  Smoothing but comfortable.  I've never tried the body suit. Shawn says she swears by them.  I'd like to give it a try.

I didn't bring the shaper I wore for my 50th high school reunion down to FL.  However, it was a great one that I found at SteinMart.  I would recommend the type that lets you wear your own bra:  most of those that have their own never quite seemed to fit properly.

The shaper  ( a name brand that I don't remember down here ) was very comfortable:  I danced the entire night !

[ Edited ]

This is what I wear under slinky dresses or slacks.

Jockey Skimmies Slipshort:

Jockey Skimmies Slipshort 2109

It comes in two lengths; this is the longer one. There's a short one, too. I  bought mine at Kohl's, but I think they're sold at a lot of places.

In general I don't like bodyshapers. They remind me of girdles, which I hated and don't miss!

But I will wear Jockey Skimmies (on occasion). They're comfortable, and yet they give just enough shape that I look more streamlined in certain outfits.

Another thing - some shapers are so expensive. Jockey Skimmies are $20 (and I've paid less on sale).

The one I've shown comes in 8 colors.

If you want something to hold you in and support your parts, go with a Spanx or Yummie piece. I wear a lot of the Jockey skimmers, but they are not shape wear.

Very important that you size up from your normal Q size when buying Spanx or Yummie. I am XXS XS or S at the Q and always buy Medium in the shaping garments.

Re: Do you have a recommendation for a body shaper?

I've invested in many Spanx brand products and I hate them.  I prefer "yummie" by heather t.  Her tanks are part of my everyday wardrobe as are her leggings.  I bought one piece of her shape wear but I imagine her "slip" types are just as great.  She has a TS next week I think the 9th or 10th on the other shopping channel.
