Re: Do you have a recommendation for a body shaper?

[ Edited ]

If you don't want to deal with crotch snaps (and who does), in addition to a shaping slip, two pieces might be a solution.  I prefer the fabrics of Yummie Tummie over Spanx.  Yummie has a 5-piece shaping set on their website which could be the way to go. It includes a half slip, shorts, leggings, and two tanks for $98.  That's close to what you will pay for a shaping slip or two pieces in Yummie or Spanx.

If you want something to hold you in and support your parts, go with a Spanx or Yummie piece. I wear a lot of the Jockey skimmers, but they are not shape wear.

Very important that you size up from your normal Q size when buying Spanx or Yummie. I am XXS XS or S at the Q and always buy Medium in the shaping garments.

You will look and feel beautiful!

Yes this.  I wear the Jockey shorts all the time too but they do not do anything as far as shaping.  I don't have pantylines and they smooth but they aren't going to hold you in or take off inches.  And in the Jockey, you need to go down a size which is odd because in most of these types of items, you have to go up a size.

I didn't have good luck with Spanx. The one shaping bottom I bought was so thick and horrible and I couldn't wait to get it off.  All it did was push everything up to my mid-section and I had a huge tummy roll, which I don't normally have.

Had they pushed things higher, I could have ended up with some big DDs!!  LOL

Thanks to everyone who offered up suggestions for shapewear.  I can't wait to start the process of shopping--it might be right up there with shopping for new swimwear!

At least I am armed with your helpful suggestions.   Again, I thank you!

@Trix - that Yummie 5p set has been a TS & I believe priced at $60 when it was a TS. . I have 2 sets- very versatile & my 'go to'

@magicmoodz

One last thought on the shapers:  if you will be wearing it / them for an extended period of time, go for comfort rather than the most compression.  Read somewhere that compression is not the best thing for internal organs.

Enjoy your event and good luck shopping !!!
