Last summer in a catalog I remember seeing an outfit consisting of white jeans, an orange top, and turquoise jewelry. It looked fresh and modern.
I will admit that I'm not good at achieving these looks, mainly because I tend to coordinate (or even match!) jewelry shades to my outfit. For instance, yesterday I wore a dark red top with a garnet ring.
Do you wear contrasting jewelry? If so, what are some of your favorite combinations?

I always coordinate and I don't think I will ever change. I have garnet ring........that was pretty to wear with your dark red top. I just have to match and I dress casual but nice and I always get great deals at Talbots when things are 75% off.........

Orange and turquoise look very pretty together.
I don't like matching. I like to contrast.
I like gray and purple, teal and green, turquoise and pink - so many possibilities.

I do that especially in the summer: turquoise jewelry with orange or red outfits; and coral jewelry with aqua/turquoise outfits.

If you shop at Talbot's, why don't you buy a pair of black pants there?
For someone who likes to dress and act lady-like, you know jeans are not always appropriate.

I never match unless it's metals like a button. Today I wore a grey and black leopard print swearer, grey slacks; a wispy, lightest into dark gray scarf, silver hoops and watch. Silver collar with a handmade malachite crystal (bright green) slide about the size of an egg, and a cuff bracelet with green mother of pearl which was inset.

I don't know that I try to match my jewelry ... more it's about what 'goes with' and what looks good on my skin ... what looks good w/ the neckline etc.
I tend to wear statement pieces for my dress nicer for work days/events. For social dressy occasions I tend towards my more expensive gold/diamonds/pearls sort of stuff.
I don't have much call for colored gemstones like rubies, emeralds or sapphires. We just don't live that sort of way anymore and I would rather take a nice vacation than get more jewelry that would sit in a box. And I can't wear costume/base metal jewelry because it cause me to break out in a terrible rash.
I know. TMI.

i don't really think about it much except to keep with yellow gold, or white or rose. i rarely like mixing metals. i have more rose and white metals so i wear them most.
i purchased a gold-tone three-strand necklace with graduated chains of creatively placed blue stones, crystals and feather pendants. i wear this with a silver gray asymmetrical hem sweater.
