Re: Do (Or Would) You Buy A Colored Coat As A Basic?

Yes! I have a multi color tye dye puffer jacket from urban outfitters that I love. Also have a blue the dye lightweight down jacket from land's end but I burst into flames if I have to go inside with it on so it's reserved for outside play!

I have one camel color wool car coat for when I need something more dressy, which rarely happens anymore.

i have two red winter coats, a teal one, a wine one, a grey one, and a pale blue one. I also have a pink lighter weight jacket, a tan one, a navy one, and a black one. I tend to keep coats and jackets forever, and I have not bought a new one in two years. But I love the different colors.

@ECBG   The majority of all the coats I have ever owned (and still do) were some shade of red or green with browns often when I lived where winter coats are necessary.  Right now I have a red raincoat and a reddish-wine winter jacket.

I wear lots of prints, just not in my coats.

If I only had one coat - it would be black.

For my basic coat?  My one long cold weather coat?  No.  It has to be black.

I have many coats, so I don't have to limit myself. I have one in each of the following colors: bright blue, olive green, red, cobalt, black, plum, black watch plaid, light blue, gray, navy, teal, along with a few in prints and two striped ones. I am sure there are others.....

Hmmm everything has a color! What do you mean by colored? This winter I have a new black, white and red winter jacket. Soooo is my red one the only "color"??? Rather strange question.

@ID2

"Colored" generally means "fashion colors" leaving out all neutrals.

Hard question.  I have lots of coats, mostly (but not all) in basic colors.

If for some reason I could only have one coat, it would be black.

Yes, especially my raincoat (bright blue) to lift my spirits on a dreary day. I have many coats, but I make sure my everyday coats are in colors that can be seen by drivers at dusk or in the dark.
