This is opposite of what I've ever been told or done myself.

I didn't hear her...but I hang most of my knits, always have, and never had a problem with it. I simply don't have the space to store so many folded items.
Same goes for flat drying---nowhere to do that, so I hang knits to dry.

I don't fold my knits, I hang them because I don't have enough storage to fold everything. Not a problem for me.

I only fold them when I am putting them away for the season.
They never stay on the hanger long enough to get "humps."
I do fold the cardigans in half and let them hug the hanger

I hang mine on flocked hangers, No problems with shoulder bumps.

@ALRATIBA I use those also but prefer the padded hangers. They work great for me. I have some that's made of silk and they are padded. Got them years ago. Have to see if I can find some more. They take up a little more space in the closets but I am ok with that.

Years ago my New York aunt folded hers and put them in her drawers or on the top shelf of her closet.
I did the same thing but then decided to hang mine so that I can see everything in the closet.

With the finer / thinner yarns from machine made knits ... those padded hangers are the best to use.

I fold my knits. I once hung a sweater knit top and it grew several inches in length.
