Re: Describing where we will wear our clothes?

[ Edited ]

I watch very rarely, as I became too bored with the repetitveness. But I must say it has to be hard as a host to stand up there and talk for 15 minutes about one top, or one pair of pants.

Their jobs are not as easy as they look. I do remember reading about how when you interview they give you something and you have to stand and describe and talk about it for a while, all while trying to keep it interesting!

It is not that easy, but I do agree some of the hosts talk way too much and talk over vendors constantly, and that is one of the reasons I stopped watching as much..

It really doesn't "bother" me ....

I'm beginning to find the "chit-chat" amusing.

Who will be the first to tell me where I can go in these clothes??????

The host or the vendor!

Male vendors are the funniest.

It's so scripted ... like I've said before "vaccinated with the same phonograph needle."

Re: Describing where we will wear our clothes?

Instead of trying to fill 20 minutes talking about a T shirt, why not show MORE items.  HSN has a segment called 5 in 5 where they show five items in five minutes.  I am always able to get all the info I need on a product in that short amount of time.  The Q should try it.

Fear not Brothers and Sisters! I have read THE BOOK..........we win!!!

I have been a QVC fan since 2007. I purchase very often and have watched very often over the years. Some of the hosts have to start reeling it in. Please don't spend time telling us all the places we can wear our clothes that they are selling! Some story telling is fine but please keep it to a minimum. It's to the point with a couple of the hosts that I am unable to watch my favorite vendors because the host gets so loud and ittitating in their chatter to the point I am unable to watch when I want to purchase and need to see items on the models and have descriptions of fabric, the cut of the piece, length, etc. Sorry to say that when Rachel Boesing and Jane Treacy are hosting I am unable to watch presentations for purpose of seeing if I want to purchase because they are too interested in being cute, funny, and getting all the attention.

I tune out whenever Jane is on.....nonstop irrelevant chatter.

If one more host tells me that I can add a necklace and a nice pair of high heels to my pajamas and wear them to a wedding I will, as my grandmother used to say, woopse!

Okay, I haven't watched a clothing show in quite some time, so I haven't noticed what's being described here.

However.....  does anyone remember when Bruce  Makowsky used to give his endless handbag presentations ... usually with another TSV every few weeks .... it got to be just too much.

I never understood the fixation on that outfit, but Bruce used to repeatedly say "You can wear it with jeans and a tee shirt!"

What the heck?  Did he think that's what we all wore ... all the time?   At one point he was saying it so often that I wanted to reach into my TV picture and smack him!   lol   Woman LOL

It's all a 'sales ploy' to draw you in .  If they happen to mention that you can wear an item while ''walking the dog,'' etc....and you just so happen to be a dog walker, then it triggers the mind into thinking ''that must be meant for me !''...which in turn triggers the customer into thinking ' I must buy this item' !....all a mind thing.

I am guessing you've never been in sales.  Maybe it would affect you that way, but it wouldn't trigger me into thinking I must buy that item.

People seem to frequently mention on these boards that it's a "sales ploy" or a "sales tactic" .... which makes it sound like they are trying to trick you into buying things you don't need.  Like the QVC programming is really just a friendly talk show, and they occasionally sneak in a mention of an item that's for sale.

What some people seem to forget is that this is a shopping channel, and it is THEIR JOB to sell whatever is being offered.  It's also difficult for any presenter to do what is basically a one hour "monologue" about what is being sold.   Trust me, sales isn't easy.

Re: Describing where we will wear our clothes?

One term they use all the time is, "throw it on and go."  I only "throw on and go" whatever might be on the floor if the doorbell rings.  When I leave the house, I usually think about what I'm gonna wear for about two or three minutes then put it on.  Never THROW IT ON.

And, sorry, I may consider wearing a pajama top with my jeans if it doesn't look like pajamas, but I'd neverrrrr put on pajamas bottoms and heels.  Bottoms stay home...cuz they're pajama bottoms!!!!
