Dennis Basso Faux Fur Cleaning

Can someone please tell me approximately what you pay to have a faux fur jacket or coat cleaned? Also how often do you take yours to the cleaner? Once a year? What is the reason some are washable, is it the lining? Thank You

Re: Dennis Basso Faux Fur Cleaning

To be perfectly honest, I have never taken a faux fur to the cleaners.

It doesn't come out of the closet for everyday wear so I never thought about getting it cleaned but that's a good question.

The lining is the key for washing vs dry cleaning per the instructions in the garment. I have washed several faux fur throws and they turn out great so I'm sure a jacket would do the same without a silk lining.

Thanks Nantucket, I called my local dry cleaners (8) and had quotes ranging from $15 to $100 obviously at the highest range I would just wash and see if it survived.

I know they are not everyday wear so I think you're right. I noticed on the washable the lining is sewn down like strips and not on the dry clean only.

I haven't been to a cleaners in years I just always buy washable. Am trying to buy some "better" clothes (dressy). Love the way the Dennis Basso look!

I pay more than $15 to have a wool coat cleaned. That is really inexpensive for a faux fur.

Abbey, yes the $15 est is do-able, but since it was a telephone est I fear the price may go up when I take it in, because it was so much lower than anyone else

also since I just got the coat it will be a while before I need to. I'm just deciding if I should stick to the washable fur in the future. I love the one I got it is the former tsv multi color block jacket in black and taupe(2 jackets). Beautiful!

YOU JUST TAKE IT TO THE CLEANERS LIKE ANY OTHER GARMET THAT HAS TO BE CLEANED. ITS A SYNTHETIC MATERIAL I BROUGHT MINE IN AND IT WAS TREATED LIKE A REGULAR WOOL COAT WOULD BE.

Re: Dennis Basso Faux Fur Cleaning

I have several DB coats and love them all. They rarely need cleaning, but if they do I just toss them in the washer, wash on cool (delicate). They come out looking like a dead critter, but a few minutes in the dryer and they look good as new. Dry on medium for about 10-15 minutes, and hang till dry. Hope this helps.

Re: Dennis Basso Faux Fur Cleaning

Thank you to all who responded!

I received the "Tye Dye" jacket and it appeared to be a return (smell of smoke) and looked a little used.

So I decided just to try washing even though the tag said dry clean. It turned out beautifully, like new, I washed on delicate and dried on ultra delicate used Woolite.

I'm not suggesting all Basso faux furs to be washed since that is the only one I tried, but now I know that some at least can be.

Thanks, Cocomom
