Re: Denim and Company - no more Carolyn, drastically higher prices

If I happened to be home on Tuesdays am, I would tune into the Denim and Co show - I am curious to who will now be the face behind the brand like Carolyn was...

If @Redsoxmom1 is right and Julia is the host I will not watch next week.  I cannot watch her under any circumstances.

NO other host would be caught dead wearing D&Co!

Re: Denim and Company - no more Carolyn, drastically higher prices

countrygal,

I agree. I loved shopping this way for almost everything....except my trips to the grocery store. When I am off from work I love to be at home,  and I get tired sorting though decisions at brick and mortar stores for sure. Our shopping scene where I live is really limited too.

I adored Carolyn as a host. She was so personable. I will miss her greatly. I feel grateful she shared her stories of her pets with viewers. She was so refreshing, normal, pleasant, and talented. Many opportunties I am sure will be ahead.

I am really disappointed at the abrupt departure....for her and those that followed her shows.

I don't believe Carolyn was " let go".  I think she and others eligible were offered retirement incentives and she chose to take it.  That's SOP with corporations that must reduce the workforce.

Carolyn and dh have been dying to use their new motorhome so be happy for her.  I believe retirement was on her radar, it just came a little sooner than expected.

@Kachina624 If that were the case, there would have been a big whoop about her leaving and special shows and good-by's and such.

It is a dead give away that there was nothing like this that she was fired.  QVC is not the happy place it used to be.  It is far far different now.

Thats terrible if QVC doesnt allow a host to say good-by. I never found Carolyn to be irritating or annoying as I found other hosts.

THe bottom line is not Carolyn. Create clothing that makes women look attractive without burning a hole in your wallet!.

Carolyn was a pleasure to watch, and I wish her well.

@Sooner    With many people having been laid off and others also retiring, it would have been in poor taste to have had a big whoop for just two.  How would the rest feel plus it came so suddenly and was such a shock, I doubt either person was much in the mood for celebrations.

This situation is much different from the case when one person voluntarily leaves.

Perhaps their QVC friends will do something for them.

I didn't watch much or many of the D & C shows with G and C---mostly because that brand does not fit me and the prices are sky high and to some degree the ridiculous squirrel tirade got to be way over the top ---but I did watch this Sunday a,m, and have to say--it was not awful with PJD and Gary--in fact it was way more   informative than it has been in a long time. Not that I will buy anything---still doesn't fit no matter who hosts that show---but a little more professional to me. I liked Carolyn but couldn't watch her for very long.

@Kachina624 The other people weren't hosts.  I doubt they would expect something on air--as the viewers did for people they were very familiar with.  On air it is a slap in the face not not sell it as "leaving" and do at least something--at another date and announcement.

Should have been done at least a month or two before or after the announcement.  Tacky and cruel not to, to the hosts and viewers.

I will also miss Dan during holiday presentations.

Another incentive not to watch.

@geezerette @Wobin Dan has it worse than Carolyn. Carolyn is 64, so as soon as COBRA runs out, in 18 months, she can get decent insurance, Medicare, at a decent  price. Dan is 57, so when COBRA runs out he will only be able to get coverage from the ACA  offerings and they are high priced for older workers. If his wife is still working, maybe he has insurance through her work.

@PhilaLady1    I think the offer came very suddenly yesterday after her show.  I'm sure she's still in a state of shock trying to adjust to the idea.  In six months, shell look back and wonder why she even cared.

@Kachina624

You nailed the abrupt shock element.

PLUS, everyone forgets, she (and Dan) are NOT old eough for Medicare.

Health care is critical (she is recovering from cancer a few years back).

COBRA is expensive monthly, plus only lasts after termination for 18 months. That's scarey to the max with cancer.

@1Professor @Carolyn is eligible for Medicare soon. She's 64, so she can transition fromCOBRA. Dan is in a worse position at 57. He'll need an ACA plan or insurance from his wife's job, if available. ACA plans for older people are very expensive.
