Am I missing something @Group 5 minus 1 ? I don't understand what you are trying to point out.
You said something about a 5'6" person not a petite? I'm assuming a host said this?
Since I'm not sure what your point is, I could be incorrect but..... I am a petite size and will buy regular length at times because I want a longer dress/pant. I have also read reviews from "tall" women who buy petite size to receive a shorter length for a particular garment. A person does not have to be a true defined petite to purchase a petite size, and vice versa.
I am 5'5 (which I know is not petite) but I sometimes prefer the front rise in a petite pant, but then the length is to short...I have a heck of a time buying pants.
But true petite clothing is cut smaller all over. Petite pants have shorter inseams, yes, but they also have a shorter rise. The word petite is misused and misunderstood. My sister was 5'1" and weighed 250 when she died. By no stretch of the imagination was she petite. She was short and obese. Petite means small or tiny. I require a shorter inseam than regular- but I'm not petite. I wear misses size 14 but my legs are shorter relative to my height of 5'4".
Jeanne Bice of Quacker Factory understood this and mentioned it on occasion. That many full size or overweight women are short and need a shorter pant length- but in a missy size not a petite cut. There's a difference.
That is a good question,it use to mean small body built, but i am plus size ,now and still need petite length in pants, some are still to long ,GO FIGURE!!
When you lose some one you L~O~V~E, that Memory of them, becomes a TREASURE.
Many years ago during a clothing presentation Dennis Basso pointed out that petite garments are not just shorter in length but cut proportionally smaller all over.
I am not quite 5-ft tall and not much over 110 lbs. I wear QVC's vanity size XXSP or XSP and they are still sometimes too big or too long.
If I am looking for a special garment and not just something casual I will always shop in a store that offers true petite sizes like Macy's, Nordstrom or The Loft.
