Customize your clothes...eShakti...

[ Edited ]

Someone mentioned eShakti on another site, so I had to check it out.  How many times have you seen a dress and thought it was almost perfect except for the short sleeves or you wish it didn't have a bateau neckline?  Love those pants, but wish it was 2 inches longer?  Well, this site let's you customize a few details.

I'm fascinated and excited (is this the wave of the future?), and, unless I've missed the boat (other than costly alterations, who else does this?), this seems quite innovative and forward-thinking...curious what you think.

I love Eshakti, I do not buy often.  Just a couple of things a year.  I've purchased severl dresses and in March I bought two button shirts.  I love that I can customize.  I prefer midi or maxi length dresses and I like shirts that are not tunic length but cover my high hip.  I think the quality and workmanhsip is excellent.  Hubby and I are planning to renew or vows during the Christmas season and I will definitely order my dress from Eshakti.  I should say that is is NOT for those women who don't like to measure themselves and make assumptions about what size they should wear.....it will go terribly wrong for those women.

Thanks for the response @chrystaltree...although I don't know why, I'm somewhat surprised that someone on the forum has actually purchased from this company!!!  Smiley Surprised

I'll assume you are satisfied with the quality.

The only negatives I've read thus far are about the slow delivery, but...hello??...it would take some time to make a customized garment.  What can you tell me about the overall process?  Did you give them all your pertinent measurements?  Or did you just customize length?

       You can order in one of two ways, I'll use myself as an example.  I know my measurements, I take them every month.  By their size chart, I wear a size 16 also I'm curvy so I order dresses that are flattering for my hour glass shape.  I order the size 16 and then, I choose the customization.  I prefer elbow length sleeves, I prefer a midi or maxi length and I there are often different necklines that you can ask for.  They also ask for your height.  I get the perfect fit, customized for me.  When you order all specifications are right there for you to click on.   The second way is that you order just by body measurements.  I have never done that because it is so complicated.  They want your upper arm measurement and stuff like that.  The delivery is not slow at all.  They tell up front that delivery is 14-16 days.  They also tell you that at check out.  A customized dress or top takes time and I find it surprising that they can do it in 2 weeks.  My delivery times were between 10 days and 14 days.  I love the way things come beautifully packaged in nice box, wrapped in tissue paper and sometimes tied with a satin ribbon.  Very classy.  Like anything else, the first time you order, you have to take it slow and don't skip over anything and triple check everything before you submit your order.  Yes, I think the quality is excellent.  I'd probably order more things but I do not work in a dressy environment anymore, actually I am a remote work, I work from home.  And I don't have a dressy lifestyle.  I got email from them this morning about the new spring items.

@MacDUFF  @chrystaltree - Thanks for posting about this site. When I have more time, I'll  check it out.  Sounds like they offer a great service.  I think the wait time for delivery is very reasonable considering the clothing is customized after you order.

As a young adult, I would often talk my mom into custom-make clothing for me. She could alter store bought patterns as well as create her own patterns based on ready-made clothes.  It was nice to have a well-fitting shirt with a variety of different necklines and sleeve lengths and in the fabrics I selected.  Unfortunately,  I always relied on her talents and never bothered to learn how to sew myself.  Now that she is gone, I don't even know how to hem pants that are too long for me.

What an interesting site.  Is the fabric substantial, @chrystaltree?

Re: Customize your clothes...eShakti...

Thank you @chrystaltree for the details...I'm soooo tempted to try it using all my measurements!

BTW, congratulations on the upcoming renewing of your vows...how long have you been married?  Would love to see the dress you ultimately pick for the celebration.

@DeniseColo

Hi Denise...I'm jealous!  Smiley Tongue  I've always wanted something...anything!...custom made to fit me.  You must have a very keen eye for the well-made, well-fitting garment.

My Mom always said that fit was everything...I managed to pick up the basics of mending and hemming from her (she wasn't a tailor).  Have you ever considered taking sewing classes?

Re: Customize your clothes...eShakti...

@MacDUFF

At the time that my Mom did a lot of the custom sewing for me, it started out as as a basic need than necessarily for fashion. Back then, plus-size clothing was not widely available in our area. For some reason my Mom was not keen on doing mail ordering and had me leery of it myself. Luckily she understood that I didn't want the exact same shirt in 7 different colors.  That was how we got started changing necklines and just got more creative as time went on.  I was very blessed that she had the talent and was willing to do this for me!

You are lucky that you at least have the basic skills. I really wish I knew how to hem pants! I have often thought about taking sewing classes.  If I lived in a larger house with the space for a dedicated sewing area, I would absolutely learn how to sew. Sadly, my current house is so small that I don't even have space for a kitchen table Smiley Sad.

     Thank you, it will be 34 years next month.  We didn't do a 25th celebration because my mom passed away that year I was a wreck.   We thought about doing something on our 30th but my younger got engaged that year and you know how $$$ weddings are now.  This seems to be the right year and I chose Christmas season because I love Christmas weddings but my mom wanted a June wedding....so I had a June wedding.  I'll definitely post a picture of the dress I choose.
