Since it's Fashion Day, I'm posing a question I've often thought about while hearing designers and hosts say "you can wear any color with any other color nowadays . . . there are no rules anymore!" Orange is the new spring color!!! (as it was in the fall?) I never see anyone in my circles wearing orange.
I myself rarely wear more than two colors together, and they are always coordinated. Only occasionally would I add a third color, and that would probably be a printed scarf or something that had the two colors I'm already wearing in it. I tend toward blacks, whites, reds, or minimalist prints (top only).
My girls wear almost all black almost all the time. They shop at White House/Black Market most of the time. The gifts they give each other are rarely bright and colorful with oranges, limes, fushias, etc. They just don't wear them. They are in their forties.
The younger set seems to stay away from colors altogether. They wear black tights and boots with one-color tops.
Of course, we all wear jeans and anything goes with them (the darker colored ones are "in" right now, but I still wear my faded denims too).
Is that perhaps just Philly and its suburbs? Are people all decked out in color everywhere else?
