I can not even afford the clearance prices. I know I complained about Goodwill prices,but

$6.00 for a pair of slacks is not bad.

You are not alone.  I don't mean any disrespect to other posters, but I will say that it seems most are in a better financial place than me, better than the average American.  I haven't shopped in a Good Will since the 80's.  I do buy QVC sales, clearances, and TSV's.  I do sometimes wish I could afford more.

There are plenty of places that have reasonably priced clothing.   QVC is not one of them!

@group5minus1

I'm with you. I may be part of a minority of QVC shoppers but I cannot even afford these clearance prices. I'm working on finding whatever I need locally. It's going to be a challenge because there's almost no shopping in my area.
I'm not liking the clothing I'm seeing now on QVC so it's been an easy pass.
I did see a cute CCB sweater on LS price last week so I did get 2 of those. They were reg $57.50 but I got 2 @ $16.35 ea.
Now they're "on clearance" for over $49 each😏
I figured what I paid was a Walmart price so I got 2. I needed some sweaters. When we had that cold snap over Christmas it really brought home the fact that I had no sweaters in my closet and I don't like sweatshirts.

@PhilaLady1
Keep trying those second hand stores. This time of year a lot of ppl donate so even if you have to find a friend to go with you on a drive to one it could be worth it. I plan on doing just that this week.
HSN has deeper discounts; look there! Good luck and I hope we all can find something great! I would love a forum here devoted to only "flea market finds".

@Group 5 minus 1   I may be the only one who's never shopped second hand. I did go with my DIL when she was first married and nothing fit me without expensive alterations. I went through so many racks that I was discouraged.

Trying not to sound like a snob, but I just don't purchase new clothing that's expensive or dupicates...My closet is very paired down to the essentials. I will add a good quality piece when needed. after shopping around. I may pay more because I buy classics and keep them for many years.

I am fortunate that I can do this and realize so many cannot. These are difficult times financially and yes, prices are through the roof across the board. I waited 6 months for the sweater I wanted to go 1/2 price and then another 20% off. I am definitely a bargain shopper.

@PhilaLady1   I think many here are retired or widowed and on a fixed income. There are also many still working or like me are married and living on two incomes, but saving for retirerment.

@Group 5 minus 1 I made a discovery in Walmart before COVID. I was headed to the checkout and spotted some nice looking flannel shirts. I bought one that day, took it home and washed it. It laundered beautifully. Two days later I went back and purchased two more. They were inexpensive. I did not expect that quality. They still look good today.

If you have a Walmart, Sam's, or Costco walk past their clothing every time you go into them. There are some good prices and good quality. Unfortunately, I no longer shop in person. I use curbside pickup, so I know I am missing out on some "finds."

Most of my shirts come from Costco, LLBean or Lands End when they have   a good sale. Right after Thanksgiving I got 3 sweatshirts type from Lands End for around $33 total. I got another really nice one from Costco for around $12. I also got some summer clothes (which is a majority of my wardrobe) from LLBean deeply discounted. It can be done.

Re: Clothing prices

I always poke around the clothing section of Walmart, Target, and Kohls. The sizes are broken and sometimes I come away empty handed, but there are some great buys.  T J Maxx and Marshall's too.  and Costco.  Great buys there.

Lauren Conrad jeans for $5.00, with my 30% at Kohls, great Secret Treasure pjs at Walmart for $3.00, etc.  It does not take much time for me to check out the clearance sections and it has been well worth it for me.

I stopped buying clothing from QVC years ago.  I always had fit issues, maybe my own fault, as I prefer to see, touch and try on clothing.  I never found the quality of clothing from the Q to be worth the higher prices.  By the time I add on shipping and taxes, it is an additional $10.00 or so per garment.  When I buy in person at local stores, I can count on additional discounts.  It is a no brainer for me.

I can afford, and do buy, new clothing.  But I love the thrill of the chase in getting great  bargains on Poshmark or thrift stores.  A lot of the designer boutiques in my town sell clearance merchandise at the thrift store for a fraction of the price. I also tend to dress more trendy rather than classic so I love a good bargain that doesn't make me feel terrible for paying too much.
