Re: Carolyn's shows this week???

I don't think she knew.  During the last show she spoke about a pet show she would be doing in April.

No, she didn't.  That's not how lay offs work.  Employees are not given advance notice.  They are called in to meet with HR, advised of the situation, presented with their benefits package and they never go back to the job.  For obvious reasons.  When it happens to you, it's the shock of your life.  Your head is spinning.  They take your building pass and send you home.  Usually they pack up your desk and forward the contents to you by FEDEX OR UPS.

Re: Carolyn's shows this week???

  • Most likely no. How could she sell properly if told she was laid off?  When you are laid off, you are in shock, surprised, upset, angry. No way you could go on tv & act normal. When I was laid off, my big boss came to our office & said I'm going to have to let you go. I thought he was joking; he had to keep repeating & explaining it.  It usually comes out of left field, like what?!?!  Afterwards, another laid off coworker (we met in the parking lot) & I went to our local bar & got drunk & complained & felt sorry for ourselves.

When they lay you off, they want you out right away so you can't deface company property or especially in sales, get into the files & steal clients phone numbers.  Sometimes a security guard or employee watches you pack up, escorts you out & watches you drive away.

Re: Carolyn's shows this week???

PS to my prior post. When you are laid off or fired, you are considered persona non grata, a potential saboteur, an enemy of the company. They don't want you around. Have watched employees who were good.in the morning become enemies, like their mass murderers, being humiliating of escorted off property like criminals. Its brutal & cruel. Don't know if its still like that but that's how it was.when I worked.

On her new FB page, Carolyn said she was having lunch with one of the buyers for Denim and Co who was a close friend.  She was also layed off.....

Re: Carolyn's shows this week???

Carolyn is a class act.  She may have known ahead of time and part of her severance agreement was to fullfill certain obligations.  One of them may have been to not talk about it at the time, afterwards and limits as to how and what can be said.

I worked for a major corporation and at times layoffs were announced ahead of time. And other times folks were "walked out".
