Carol Wright Catalog Bankruptcy

I've been dithering about purchasing a pair of pants from Carol Wright...quality is not the greatest.

Found out today they have declared bankruptcy this week..........

Re: Carol Wright Catalog Bankruptcy

I'm sorry to see this, when my mom and mom-in-law  were still living I bought quite a bit from the Feel Good website and as a result we got Carol Wright catalogs. I hate that some of these companies are in trouble.

I didn't realize this company was still in business.

@cindyNC   I ordered this Carol Wright lounger off Amazon for my sisters birthday. It will go in a gift basket with some lotions etc. They have quite a bit of stock.  163ABBBF-B07B-429B-B711-9F5943323562.jpeg

Re: Carol Wright Catalog Bankruptcy

@cindyNC   I used to buy from Carol Wright, Harriet Carter, Anthony Richard and Complements.  All these were listed in your post.  I thought all these companies were long gone as I haven't received catalogs from them in years.

Carol Wright and Harriet Carter had practical items, Complements had some of the most unique things and one of the most comfortable summer robes I had came from Anthony Richards.

Another thing from the past gone.

Amerimark was a miserable company, but they had great flannel pajamas.

Re: Carol Wright Catalog Bankruptcy

This does not surprise me. I worked for one of the catalogs listed. The company/catalog was sold to Amerimark in 2019 and business was relocated to Ohio. (As a result we lost our jobs). The transition was not smooth from what I was told.

Prior to the sale, the company was not doing well. Multiple port strikes, factory shutdowns overseas and legislation impacting imported goods significantly altered the ability to obtain goods and the cost of imports. Companies were in bidding wars for cargo space and smaller companies were typically outbid and left without inventory. Catalogs are printed many months ahead of time. If an item is listed in a catalog, but then isn't available, (backordered), people cancel orders and revenue is lost. Then along came the pandemic which exacerbated the problems.

I do hope they can recover from the bankruptcy, but they may not survive.

I'm a dinosaur for sure, but I love catalogs. I find it relaxing to browse catalogs at night before going to sleep. It's gentle shopping.
