On the business news this morning they stated that Coldwater Water Creek will be going out of business, they have not made a profit since 2007. Very sad! I liked this store.

I just saw this too. I have a couple of their jackets and really like them. They definitely had a certain vibe to their clothing, but I guess the downturn in discretionary spending and the competition of some of the bigger chains was too much for them. I'm sorry to see them go.

I always thought they were too pricey for what they sold.I expect to see J Jill go under, too.

I agree they were too expensive for the quality of merchandise they sold - I learned to never buy anything until a sale came along, and even then, I was very picky. They used to have such nice clothing, and wonderful, whimsical descriptions in their catalogues - remember that? I would read them like a magazine! Then, I don't know what happened but the quality went down, the unique descriptions ceased, and I pretty much stopped buying from them. How sad.

i also wonder about Talbot's. they're pricey, but manage to hang in there. i think sizing and $$ hurt CC. Nice, neat stores and nice clerks. too bad.

Does anybody remember Casual Corner? I don't know what regions their stores were located in, but I used to buy so many of my work clothes there. I could walk in the store and look at the suits, and say "I want that one, and that one, and that one....." - of course I couldn't buy them all, but they had good clothes at affordable prices - more classic looks. I don't know if any are still around, but they haven't been in my area for a long time. Seems like the somewhat "middle of the road" good clothing stores are going by the wayside and just leaving the higher end and lower end - not a whole lot in the middle.

Yes, the sizing was all over the map. I had to try on several sizes to get the right fit and I was happy when CC came to my area in 2010. The quality has diminished in recent years so it doesn't surprise me they are going under.

I'm sorry for the employees. And the loyal customers.
They once made beautiful jackets, and when I was working I liked to buy those.
In recent years, I haven't found anything I wanted to buy.

I, too, loved CC clothing but only bought when they were having a big sale. Unlike the Q, they sure do know how to have a sale.

I just saw today that they filed for bankruptcy protection. Honestly it doesn't surprise me. The quality of the clothing went downhill and the sizing was all over the place making it nearly impossible to order anything on-line.
I remember when they tried to make the outlet All Sales Final and there was such a backlash, they changed the policy right back.
I agree with the poster who said JJill might be following suit. That is another store of overpriced clothes, decline in quality and sizing all over.
