Vera Wang doesn't look like a 73 yr old in this pic.
I guess you could say if I ever put on anything like that when I am 73, I would hope one of my kids or a good friend would gently tell me to STOP!
@Trinity11clearly she's not a conservative dresser. She's an artistic type. It's what they do. I love her shoes.
@gertrudecloset there is a vast difference between an "artistic type dresser" and someone who ends up looking foolish. And any woman 73 years old that puts that get-up on hoping to promote herself to be taken seriously, needs some kind soul to let her know it isn't working for her. Time to get back to the drawing board.😳
@Trinity11I'm sorry but it's not. This is a subjective thing only as important as the person beholding the view in front of them. THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG to any of this. It's "Art." If you don't understand it, that doesn't mean it's wrong. It simply means you don't have an appreciation for it. Thus, you mock what doesn't appeal to you. That's not a crime either, but you're wrong about what it actually is.
That's not "art". More like "The Emperor's New Clothes." 😜😄🤣🤣🤣🤣
@gertrudecloset extremely well said. This is an inherrent problem with this section of the board...such narrow-mindedness and closed minds don't allow for expressive forms of art. Why does every one have to dress like cookie cutter dolls? How boring and our minds were meant to create in various forms of expression. Doesn't mean you need to like it or wear it, just let others be! You don't like it? So what? Move on and appreciate something else. Good grief.

@pet sitter 4 uYes it's art. I might not like the Mona Lisa, but you might. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. Fashion is another medium of art, just like paintings, ballet. There are many types of Art, and high fashion is one.
That's why they have schools for them to go to study. Isn't that how Jason Wu got his start on one of those fashion reality shows? He's an ARTIST.

@gertrudecloset That might be how Jason Wu got his start but I know for a fact that is how Christian Siriano got his start on "Project Runway" because I watched it and him on it. And now Siriano is a sought after fashion designer.

@pet sitter 4 uHere, here! Yes, many designers work for the big design houses and leave off on their own. I have never watched any of those Project Runway shows, but they did give some starting out a big push. If it's not Art (wearable) then what the heck is it? People don't understand that and they think folks dress like this on the regular.
Fact is, many designers clamour to dress these celebrities. The celebrities don't own these garments. That's one perk of being a celeb.....
NYC has the Fashion Institute of Technology a school under the State University of New York where all of this artistic stuff can be studied. Just as if you went to Juliard in New York to study another art form!

Exactly. Just like haute couture...it is ART! You don't parade around in it for everyday wear. It would not be practical. It is art that give an expression of their creative thoughts. You make the statement for awhile then take it off. I don't go around wearing event occassion gowns everyday...it is a special event. Why is this so hard for some closed minded posters to understand?

The green dress in the 11th picture is my favorite...the 2 white dress are nice too. Regina Hall looks really pretty. Thanks for sharing @gertrudecloset

Ha! I was thinking if she added a rope belt she'd look like a monk.

Regina Hall in the brown Jason Wu gown is my favorite.
The last picture is Eve Hewson, Bono's daughter. She is an actress and she's beautiful, I don't think that CFDA look is doing anything to compliment her beauty.

@wilma The white gown was one of the most beautiful ones.
