At this time of year, I start looking for summer-style clothes in fall colors.  Instead if a pastel pink or blue top, I'd choose rust, orange or navy.  QVC had so many long sleeve tops, which presumably were meant for winter/spring but arrived late, that I've picked up several that were on clearance.  Too hot to wear them now.

I saw a few items in the new Talbot's catalog that would work all year long in Seattle. I will order when there is one of their good sales.

In general, I don't buy any more summer clothing after end of July, unless it's a special item or particular color I was looking for.

I'm in MA, we stop wearing summer clothes around mid September.  I have already stopped buying summer clothes unless it's something with a great clearance price.  I still have summers things I haven't worn yet.

@gidgetgh I am in Alabama so my weather is much like yours.  I don't really reach a point where I stop buying things just for the season.  If I like it and it is a good deal, I will purchase it.  If I can't wear it then, I will just put it away until I can.

I just purchased several, not on sale dresses and top that are summary, JJill. 
if i wait for a sale, they won't have my size. 
i should be able to wear thru Sept here, WA state

I just received two pair of designer slacks on a good sale at Dillards.

I guess I beat those that resale on ebay!!!

I have been buying summer pieces for months. Talbots, JJill, macys, Boden. If I can find my size in tees, skirts, summer dresses, and the price is right, I buy it.  I am in the northeast and "summer" can continue through October.

I buy clothes according to the sale and not the season.  If I can't wear it now, I'll be able to wear it when the season arrives.
