Re: Buying New Spring Clothes In January

I'm in MA, I generally don't start spring 🛒 until March 1 which is still winter for us.  In the past when I bought something too early, I put it away and totally forgot about it and never got to wear it.  While I do enjoy looking at spring fashions, I'm not likely to buy anything until March.

Easter is early this year in March, so, maybe I will shop right before then if I need something!

Re: Buying New Spring Clothes In January

We don't have four seasons here and spring is usually cool and wet.  Hence my nic - Hunting, Winter, Still Raining, Sun - My Eyes!

So no need for a change until about July.  I did get two tees last week for under hoodies if that counts.

If you like it, you may want to purchase before your size is gone.  Smiley Happy

Re: Buying New Spring Clothes In January

I bought a few clearance priced items which I can use for Spring and they arrived in two days.

Re: Buying New Spring Clothes In January

Many years ago I started buying clothing for the upcoming season at the start of the season, and quit buying much if anything on clearance.  I found that by the next year I didn't care for much of it and it was a pretty much waste of money.

So I started buying what I wanted and loved pre-season, paying the price but saving in the long run because I bought what I loved, would wear and needed, so didn't "need" much when the season got rolling. Which was nice not having to shop.

Re: Buying New Spring Clothes In January

[ Edited ]

For the majority of the time, there is no specific time I purchase any particular season of clothing.

If I see a 'new' in season garment I really like, depending on the price, I will buy it immediately.

In most cases though, I will put it in my wishlist if it is QVC or Ebay and give myself time to think about purchasing. I weigh many factors...sale, S&H, and # still in stock/availability.

Sometimes it doesn't matter about the sale price or S&H. If it is a garment I REALLY want...a 'have to have', I will just order it.

Today is a great example...

I feel like I hit the jackpot today...absolutely over the moon! Back in early December when Dennis Basso had his TSV 30 yr anniversary coat, he had a fabulous new top I REALLY wanted. I had to put it in my wishlist under a different size than I needed because it sold out so fast. Sadly I missed the initial presentation, otherwise I would have ordered it immediately.

Today was my lucky day. This DB top came back in stock in my size/color. This is one of those pieces, even if it was at the high QVC price, I would have snagged it. The top is A628187 and I was FINALLY able to order the black/XS.

So my point is, for me, the last factor I consider is the particular season I purchase a garment. Smiley Happy

@Susan Louise Lucky you...What a pretty top! It's not available in my size, otherwise, I would order the sand color. Enjoy!

Retail is always about 3 months ahead, and I would think most people would know that by now.

The temperature outside is irrelevant

You shop when the clothes (etc) are in the stores.

Yes, I know.  Usually, the new items trickle in.  I am experiencing a flood where I shop and what I looked at.
