@Witchy Woman : In Tucson also. Dyed to match was the thing for weddings, proms anything special where one wNted to have shoes to match. But, you, were those shoes stiff. Could cause a lot of blisters

Re: Bridesmaids of Yesteryear

@roxxy1  Thanks for reminding me - lol!  I was a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding in the '70's.  There were 8 of us and 2 each wore blue, pink, yellow and purple polka dot gowns with hats with matching ribbons.  I was in purple.  With all 8 of us together I didn't think they looked bad but on their own they were a HOT MESS.  Did I mention the white dots were the size of silver dollars!  After the wedding the gown found a home in my parents attic. Oh how could I have forgotten to mention those died to match shoes!

EGAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Having graduated HS in 1971, lots of girls from my class actually wore many of these insane fluffy ruffle-y gowns shortly after they graduated. And their bridesmaids dressed equally ridiculous but these were the styles then.

The only grouping I sort of liked were the black/white funeral wedding!!!!

The brides look as bad as the bridesmaids.  Just horrible.

In the St. Louis area, the go-to shoe store for "dyed to match" pumps was Bakers Shoes.

They were stiff and uncomfortable, but the colors were perfect!

I also live in St. Louis.  And yes, at the time Baker's Shoes was THE place to get those white satin pumps dyed to match those bridemaid's dresses.

I had a pair of periwinkle blue shoes from a wedding that I dyed black shortly after.  Ah, those were the days gone by.

They're all pretty bad, but Icing on the Cake is nothing but strange! I see late 60s and the 70s written all over those concoctions! LOL! Isn't it amazing that we thought some of those styles were just great!

OMG .. was that fun to look at ..... and yes .. Baker's was the

place for the dyed shoes ....

And whenever you were asked to be in a wedding there was that

moment of panic ..... when you thought to yourself .. " What will

the dresses be like ......

thanks .. that was great ....
