Seriously?! Smiley Tongue

I thought the robes were provided to wear when you get out of the shower @Nonametoday .  I would have never thought to wear them to breakfast.

Yeah, that's not happening in my world, @San Antonio Gal.

Chain hotels that offer breakfast buffet as part of hotel charge, you do see people show up in what I would call PJ's. Very, casual attire.

You don't generally see this at more expensive hotels, 5-star, for example.

This is definitely not a chain hotel its a Boutique hotel on Long Island North Shore, they do hold a lot of weddings here over the weekend which I think may account for the poor dress

Sorry, this thread  is really a dumbing down of our Country as a whole. It's disgusting and I don't mean sweats in general but don't think it's right.  Has anyone been to an international city in Europe lately?  Maybe? I doubt it.   There women are made up, clean and dressed up for breakfast.

Airports?  Ugh, I agree. they are unreal.  Not for me.

We are now at the bottom, the dumbing down of society as a whole.  I'll stick with a few threads on this place.  Omg.

I am sitting here on a cotton robe with snaps and said to DH oh by the way I am wearing this to breakfast tomorrow and he laughed. At least its cute tie dye.

@San Antonio Gal   I shower after I eat breakfast, not before.  I guess we all have different lifestyles, but the ladies I have seen wear nice attire, i.e.,  beautiful robes to breakfast.  However, every now and then you will find some young girl who likes her silk pajamas and wears them to breakfast.

Its not your kitchen its a public place I do not even go to get the mail in the lobby with my robe on

Here's a sweatsuit.  I would definitely NOT put this in the pajamas category as a few had stated.

@San Antonio Gal

That looks like it would be nice for a hotel in Michigan in December but in California, Texas or Florida, I think you would sweat off your breakfast calories.

I live in CA and could easily wear this 6 months out of the year, not all of CA is warm all year long.

It wasn’t at a hotel breakfast but I was surprised to see a beautiful young girl , early 20s at our courthouse this week to conduct business wearing a two piece pajama outfit, button up top with white piping , very short matching shorts with leopard print house slippers
It was very pretty blue pjs and she did look clean but I just didn’t think it was proper attire for the setting
FWIW I for one think there’s a big difference in wearing sweats compared to PJs / gown and robe
Surely one can take a few mins and dress for a meal

I realize that as my first post on the Forum, I will roasted as most first timers are.  But I have to reply to this one.

In no way are PJs appropirate in any public place.  Hotel restaurants are public places.  Not the same as one's home.  Especially overseas.  Virtually every other society wears approriate outerwear.  It is disheartening to realize when one is visiting someone else's country and home- the people parading around in PJs and slippers are-- by far and away Americans.  We are currently in Marrakesh- actually overheard a French couple making fun of a group of Yanks dressed at breakfast like they were in their dorm rooms...

The point is- one represents all of us with our dress and behavior.  And it often isn't stellar.  I would rather be proud to be identified as American than embarrassed.

One represents all of us with our dress and behavior? I think not.

I also think there are far more embarrassing things in 2024 about being an American than how one of any American dresses in another country. I have enough embarrassment about the behavior of many Americans while in this country to have any left over about pj's or slippers or robes or white sneakers or anything else in a foreign country.

Those French people in Marrakesh frankly sound like elitist snobs. People in other countries sure don't mind the tourist dollars from Americans and vice versa.
