Attracting younger shoppers, QVC

In an effort, (we do see they are making efforts whether in vain, or not).... to attract younger audience and younger shoppers, possibly a more sundry and ethnically diverse community, will this mean a shifting of hosts from the old favorites like Carolyn, Jane T, Pat D, Rick, Dan/Dan to a younger, more ethnically diverse group of hosts?

Why? Are younger viewers unable to watch and purchase from the existing hosts? The presenting host has little to do with the product presented. Any halfway intelligent person should be able to evaluate a product on it's merit no matter who the host is.

The merchandise doesn't really appeal to a younger demographic.  For example, going to Sephora is much more enjoyable than buying cosmetics here.

It may or may not matter who is hosting... what may drive the younger set to shop with Q is the fashions.  In this respect I do think they are trying to attract younger shoppers... but not teens, clearly.  Things haven't changed that much!

Q still appeals to the older set with some fashions, too.  That won't change because that is where the money comes from.

I do think that they are trying to appeal to a younger demographic with lines like Logo and Gili and they have added social media to the selling scheme. I also think that's why they have Amy And Shawn doing the fashion shows on Monday night. Younger viewers, assuming they have them, aren't going to buy from Mary Beth or Jill. Now I'm not sure this will ultimately work since most younger shoppers I know enjoy the malls and have lots of online alternatives. Just my thoughts.

I have noticed that some vendors are swaying toward the younger ones.  I think Denim and Co. are and Susan Graver in a big way.

But, when Jane, Pat, Dan & Rick first came to QVC they were young also!!  They are just very season hosts now and the new young hosts will also be in time!!

QVC would be competing with Evine for the younger crowd, I'd say.

I think that Evine's fashions such as One World and Indego Thread would appeal to a much wider span of ages vs Susan Graver and Quacker Factory.

But some of the sportier Denim and Co offerings could draw a younger demographic.

When I tune in to any of these shows on any of the shopping channels I'm really more interested in finding out abot the product. I will tune out though if I don't like host, and there are some that I will not watch.

I think QVC would be better advised to remember "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  Not that we older shoppers don't like younger hosts - some of them are delightful. But their tried and true hosts, i.e. Mary Beth, Carolyn, Jill, Dan, Dan, Leah etc. still hold the key to professionalism on the Q. And many of the older shoppers still hold the key to greater spending on shopping chnnels. (Maybe I should say Shoppers of Long Standing!)

I wish they had given this thought more importance when changing this Board up so drastically. Not a good idea IMHO. I'm trying to make myself stay with it for a while - hoping that they will see the error of their ways and return to some of the previously approved ideas. But I am starting to get bored with Pollyanna Posts.

No offense meant here, but looking at the D&C and SG lineup, they may be trying to sell to the 40-50 set with the at leisure line (some of it) but definitely not for young people under 40.
