Neutrals (black, gray, navy) with an occasional (forgive me 🙂) "pop of color."

Trying to figure out how to explain .... a little of both.

My solids are usually neutral.

My prints are usually colorful ... splashy abstracts.

LOL ... I don't know how else to describe it either when I wear something more colorful over/with my neutral clothes.

Re: Are You A More Neutrals Gal or Color???

When I was travelling for business, neutrals were the only thing that worked, especially for fast turnarounds ... come home Friday night and leave again on Monday.  I had a system, and it worked well, especially if I was seeing different people every day.  They had no idea most of what I was wearing on Thursday I also wore on Tuesday.

Now, I still have a lot of black in my closet.   For a while I liked navy, but there are about a thousand versions of navy and unless they are manufactured from the same dye lot, you can tell they don't match.

I doubt I have more than a print or two in my entire closet ... well, except for fleece pajama bottoms.   With those, I play it fast and loose with color. LOL Woman LOL

I prefer solid neutral color bottoms with colorful solid and print tops. I rarely wear all neutrals in one outfit. The exceptions are when I wear one of my solid color dresses in either solid black, ivory, or navy. Once in awhile I will wear white, ivory, or grey on top with black or denim on the bottom, but generally, I prefer to wear a brighter color on top.

Re: Are You A More Neutrals Gal or Color???

I love color. Partly it's a matter of preference. I love many different colors, and wearing them makes me happy (not at the same time though lol).

Another factor is that I don't look good in neutrals. They tend to wash me out. This has become more true as I've gotten older.

I'm grateful to Queen Elizabeth for leading the way and legitimizing the use of color in clothing. She looked good in almost any color in the rainbow, and wasn't afraid to show it.

@ECBG   Definitely neutrals for me. I'm happy I've purchased the more classic items I'll need over the years. I'm seeing a lot of brown (Lauren, too that I love) and I just can't wear brown, tan, camel, etc.

@Shanus

I am not finding true brown like the crayon.

@ECBG   What I was seeing in the mall this weekend ws like a dark greenish brown....some plaids, houndstooth, etc., but a lot had had shades of deep brown...especially all the Lauren in Macy's.

Maybe I'll have luck after fall's color influence.  Until that time, I won't buy.

Definitely neutrals. Love the timeless and classic look of black and neutrals.

Needing to be noticed or stand out in a crowd is something I detest.

I love the classic old black and white movies too.
