The ONLY place I wear leggings is when I work out at the YMCA. I'm sorry, but at 58 and although I've lost 47 (!!) pounds I look pretty good in them, they are just not ME.
I see gals my age with them on and I honestly just roll my eyes. No can do.
I feel the same way--it's a look for the very young. To each his own, but I think at a certain age/stage dignity and appropriateness should rule the day. If they were still with us, can you imagine Grace Kelly or Jackie Kennedy wearing leggings under dresses? I think not.
I think Jackie O would have worn these black leggings under a DVF black wrap dress, Gucci flats, big black sunglasses and her chunky gold bracelet.

Great advice from all and many thanks!! So now I'm left wondering - Why? would you even wear leggings - instead of tights?

I was thinking about your question again while I was flying home last night (had two flights so lot's of time to think). I think you might like the leggings with a flowy top tunic, not anything form fitting.
Also, has anyone asked Louis on his blog about how to style these for us "senior" gals who don't want to be too revealing but still want to be hip and chic without looking like we're trying to hard or competing with our nieces!
Since I've been traveling on business I haven't had tome to read the blog in a couple of days.
Update: I just checked Louis' Blog and there is a Poncho with sleeves coming in October---I think it also has a T-neck---sounds perfect over any legging! I'm in!

I wrote this earlier but this is my answer....
I'll wear them in the winter instead of tights because I can't stand putting socks over tights then cramming my foot into a winter shoe or boot. My toes get all discombobulated and twist and turn and cause me to have a pinched look on my face all day. I absolutely hate that feeling of my poor boney toes being crimped in that tiny prison cell. The leggings are a perfect solution because they offer the warmth of tights without the constricting toe jail. Now that I'm thinking about it maybe I've been wearing my tights too small. lol

Hi Ciley....The reason you stated for wearing leggings instead of tights is exactly why I prefer these leggings. I like the flexibility to select what goes on my feet. Some boots are better with thick socks and I don't want the extra layer that tights add. Sometimes I want my legs covered and my feet bare. I have DK ""stockings"" or ""tights"" that are opaque from the waist to the ankle and from the ankle and covering the feet they are transparent. They look very nice but tend to run easier. They are called ""Capri stockings"". With these you can go nude foot; thin socks or thick socks. I laughed when reading your statement you might be wearing your tights too small or maybe you are pulling them up to tight on you tootsies!! I like to wiggle my toes.

Regarding the Leggings - I do wear them! But have only started wearing the Linea Brand - recently - within the last year! Never wore them before! Love them! I wear them under Dresses that are slightly too short for my liking. And also with longer Tunic Tops.
I find Linea Leggings are the perfect weight - they are not see-through. Have the Ponte Leggings (both full length and Capri) - the Super Ponte Legging/Pant - and have ordered the Linea Body Leggings as well!
Here is an example of how I prefer to wear my Leggings:
Yes, Seka....You have great taste.

Maybe just around the casa, but never in public!

Ciley: My feet HURT for you!!!!! I know what you are talking about but it's been a long time since I had this problem. I did awfully well with the Legacy tights and now that Louis has given us his tights with the larger sizes, once I get the tights on I forget they are on my feet as well as my body. Maybe you should experiment and see if a size larger might give your poor toes relief!!!
It got down to 39 last night where we live in New Eng. I'm awfully grateful for tights all through the season - which seems to be getting underway sooner than we would have hoped.

I am in that "older" category, and I prefer leggings because I don't always like the feel of socks on my feet. I wear ballet flats with leggings..with a long top or shorter dress on top.
If I wear boots, then leggings are perfect to wear socks.
In the summer or early fall, I wear leggings because I don't like my legs to show under something short...but I do like to wear sandals, Birkis, etc.
