When I was little, my grandmother who lived in the country had a milkman. I've never encountered a bread man. I have heard "ice" men or trucks discussed in the time period where they had true "ice boxes", not refrigerators.

Did have a milkman, Charles Chips, soda pop quart bottles of different flavors, & a laundry man when we were in an apartment in the city, no washing machine so sheets, towels, etc were sent out to be washed, dried & folded, did personal items by hand in the sink. Then the family grew, bought a house w/washer & drier & milk was cheaper at the supermarket, then of course the home deliveries ended, now no longer available except for maybe Oberweiss

We had a milkman. During my very early years a horse pulled his cart!

We also had bread/goodies delivered via the Peter Wheat man.

I totally remember both (I'm almost 70). We had an insulated metal box by the front door at hour house.

The milkman would come and take the empty bottle and put in a new one.

The bread man was (I think) the Wonderbread man. I can see his truck now.

I am very good friends with many of the people I grew up (and went to high school with) and we often talk about things like that where we grew up.

I remember the milkman. He used to give us kids a ride in his truck, lol. Can you imgaine that hsppening in this day and age? He would be arrested.

You must have grown up in the Detroit area, circles! We also had Twin Pines delivery but I don't remember Sanders home delivery! Remember Milky the Clown and his show on Saturdays? And the penny jar? Back in the 80s, one of my best friends lived down the street from the guy who played Milky. Anyway, I still have mild delivery here in California-by Winder Farms. They offer lots of stuff but one of my favorites is the produce boxes they offer. You can either choose regular or organic. It's been one way to try some news veggies and fruits for me. Order a box about once a month.

Hey -- legal secretary Did you go to the Little League games when they were held in Newberry? It sounds as if you and I grew up in that area at more or less the same time. I went to college across the street from the Stroehman factory!

We had a milk lady at our house - no breadman, but we also had a farm lady who delivered eggs and often fruits and veggies.
