Darn....now I want a coconut custard pie, or a pineapple cheese pie...
A pie truck!? Now that could be dangerous!

My dad was the Rainbo Bread Man

Our milkman, too, wore a white uniform with a white hat. We didn't get butter, it was during and after the war, there was no butter available. Mother bought margarine in a plastic bag that was white with a yellow/gold dot in the center. I was usually the lucky one who got to squeeze that thing until the whole mess was a "butter" color. I wonder what that stuff did to our arteries. We also had a vegetable man, during the 50's, who delivered fruit too. It was so fresh and delicious. I hope all of fresh produce offset the damage done by the margarine.

We still get milk delivery every other week from the Longmont Dairy. We have a insulated cooler from them that they leave the milk in and take the empty ones out of. It is wonderful! We can order all kinds of milk, cheese, cookie dough and just basically anything dairy related from them.

Fond memories and even of the cream on the top of the bottles. Wished I had saved a bottle. We did have a milkman but no bread man. I now live in the country and the nearest store is a 16 mile round trip. There is one delivery kind of truck in our area, Schwans, and I do buy one item from him when he shows up. We also have a company that does still deliver dairy products but I have yet to order from them..... very very pricey. I wait for the local fairs to buy a few things.
