I stopped getting gels - the expense and the time dump getting it done was too much for me.  Also, my nails got extremely damaged.  I let my "real" nails grow out and after trying several healing nail polish formulas I have had great luck with Esse TLC polish.  It lasts a week for me too!  Good luck!

I had a bad experience with gel. a manicure old me your nails need to breathe and with polish they can't breathe. No more polish of any kind for me.  It took about 4 months for my nails to recover. Vitamins and lots of good hand cream.

I used to do the gel nails also. They seemed fine while I had them on but when I took them off to give my nails a break, they were thin and kept breaking. It took a good six months for them to get better. They are slowly getting better.  I still go for manicure/pedicures as I like to be pampered.
