Interesting responses. I enjoy wearing pants and leggings mostly around the house. I have nice pant suits and outfits for dress up also. But I can't imagine not having skirts or dresses. They are my main dress up things.

I have some dresses. I've always liked dresses, both short and long.

I don't have skirts. They're problematic for me, as I have a wide waist and I'm short-waisted. I don't tuck in anything, and don't want to bring attention to my waist. 

I think a dress can go anywhere a skirt could, and dresses are more comfortable to me.

Don't wear them nearly as much as I used to, but occasions come up when you least expect them to.

If you need ONE all purpose dress, a good choice is a navy or black v neck sleeveless ....  it can be worn as is in the summer ...  or with a shawl or lacy jacket.   In cooler months, it can be worn with a blazer or sweater over it.   For the holiday season, just pop on a dressy sweater or sequins jacket.  

You can literally get away with owning one all purpose dress for just about every occasion you can think of!

That would be me too.  I have a picture of the last time I wore a dress.  It was to go to the Red Cross Ball in Washington, DC.  My husband and his partner bought a table there and I had to wear a dress (he in a Tux).  I looked nice but not great (I was especially chubby then).  I HATE dresses and skirts!  Oh!  I forgot to say that was probably back in the late 80's or early 90's.

I always wear slacks or pant suits.

The last time I wore a dress & heels was to be the matron of honor at my best friend's wedding on a paddlewheel boat on Lake Tahoe in 1996!  I now own no dresses/skirts or heels & my friend is no longer married to him, either!  lol

I have 3 black skirts. I never wear them. I have a lot of day dresses, I wore none in the last year. I'm determined this summer to shorten a couple of the summer maxi dresses so I can actually wear them with sandals.

One black skirt in the back of my closet for many years.  I look good in pants and I'm more comfortable in them.

I would never work in a place, patronize a place, or worship in a place that requires women to wear skirts or dresses. That is an archaic and repressive way of thinking.

I love dresses but you have to worry more about what your legs look like and shoes have to be just right.  It just seems like more work to wear a dress.  I have only one black maxi dress and that it it.  It has never been worn.
