Do you own them? Did you find that EU 38 is comparable to US 8-8.5? I have purchased many pairs of shoes in Europe and usually buy a 39 so I am confused about the fit. I like the new Carina thongs. The customer reviews for other Alegria styles on the Q site as well as other web sites say are all over the place. Some say size up, some say size down. They have this brand at Nordies but I am not able to go shopping for a while so I would love to hear from you who have this shoe. Thanks! {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

They used to carry these on HSN. I have read many positive reviews here for them. I wear your exact size (8 or 8 1/2) and I usually go to the 39. But I've never worn that brand.

Raider Fan, I have had the same issue with the way the sizes on those shoes are described, too. I'd like to buy a pair of the mary jane styles to test drive for my mom (we wear the same size except she needs a wide), and I don't know what size to buy.

Almost my entire shore wardrobe is Born, and they are all sized 8.5/40. I can't imagine torturing my long monkey toes into a size 39. Or even worse, having the back of my heel perilously close to the edge of the shoe bed on a sandal.

I guess the only thing to do is find a local retailer that sells them and try them on. There are some available on eBay, but even there the sellers don't know how to describe them in American sizing. Some 39s are described as size 9, some as 8.5, it's all over the map.

When I eventually get around to testing a pair by buying from eBay, I'm going to start with a 39.

I have a 37 foot (Birkenstock collections) and I had a 36 (by accident, but it worked out) in Sanitas. My experience with Alegria is if you are between sizes (in clogs, especially) size UP. I couldn't even get my foot into a 36, which I ordered after some questionable CS advice, and I ended up sending them back for a larger size.

I have these:

And these, which I was worried about being able to keep on-

I ordered the Paloma in a size 39 (my usual size is 9) and they were too small. My toe was right up against the shoe. I ordered the 40 and they were a little too large. I had better luck with a different style (Dayna) in this Alegria line from another online company. The ones I have are very comfortable.

I have those mary jane mules in black. They run quite wide. I wear a 6.5 shoe and the 37 fits me nicely.

Thanks for the feedback. I noticed that Spring Step 's 8.5 is a 39...Alegria says their's is a 38. I am going to wait until I can get out and try them on at Nordies.

I wear a size 8 and always have to get a 39 in EU sizing. The 38 is always just a tad to short for me.
