Re: After a trip to the mall, I thought about QVC

@LindaSal

2-5% spandex is liveable! I seldom find 100% natural fibers, but do try. Smiley Wink May give CL jeans a whirl. Thanks so much.

@Trinity11  My friends and I wear that look often. We refer to it as our uniform! Sometimes we switch up the shirt but many days that is the look! Oh! We love hoop earring except for one us!

Re: After a trip to the mall, I thought about QVC

I realize that I have become a lazy shopper.

I went to Dillards this week and just explored.

I had a closet full of Q tees!! I needed variety of tops.

I found so many styles and fabrics that appealed to me.

Re: After a trip to the mall, I thought about QVC

I haven't been to a mall in ages and yes I do buy a lot here.  I also buy from Talbots & Chicos.

I have been watching videos of what the average person wears in Europe that a few mature women have put on YouTube.  (I'm planning my trip soon) It seems that they are pushing a clean look with quality clothing and mostly neutrals.

I tend to wear neutrals a lot myself.  I don't or rarely wear prints and I love black, navy & taupe.  My go to colors.  I don't wear dresses but I do like the wide leg pants and tend to wear just above the ankle pants rather than shorter capris now.

If I were going on a tropical vacation then I would pick up a few bright prints just for fun to wear at a resort, Caribbean cruise or island.

Interesting---DD and I are going to our local mall tomorrow. Haven't been there in at least a year or more. I got tired of none of the QVC sizes  fitting me and then spending $$ to sent it all back. Am not a fan of all the loud distracting matching prints either. Will not match my bottoms to my tops either. Who wants a huge tropcal blossom on your tookus?? And then there are the very dark, saturated colors that are not summer to me---reds, blues and greens and black---I want light, airy softer colors--

@wagirl I noticed that the Q keeps pushing matching tops & bottoms.  I don't tend to dress that way and if I did get a print, I certainly wouldn't wear it both top & bottom!

@haddon9 I like matching tops and bottoms!  Only if it is navy, black or beige!  I can do that look all day!  I do look at ladies in that printed tops and bottoms and I think that is so cute but just not me.  Luckily at this stage in my life I know what works for me.  However, i will say sometimes I am plesantly suprised!

Re: After a trip to the mall, I thought about QVC

I like large prints.  I don't like tiny prints.  However, I still have problems getting a good fit ordering online.  The size charts are rarely right, IMO and not every place has actual garment sizing, which is also tricky since you need to know how much ease to add in.

I much prefer shopping in person, but haven't had a lot of luck with that lately either.  After the stores opened back up and allowed trying clothes on, I went to what had been my go-to place for clothes and walked around the store and couldn't find one thing that interested me.

i was also disappointed that the brand of basic dress pants I used to buy, Kim Rogers, had become pull-on only.  For most pants, whether it be dress pants or jeans, I prefer a zipper closure.

I'm older than the Fabulous 50's ladies, unless you're referring to the year I was born, but I don't need to hide my belly, hips, or rear.  I do prefer the arm-covering tops not because I want to hide my arms, but because I just can't handle the air conditioning on them.  It's either a sleeve or I have to bring some sort of jacket everywhere in case I have to go into an air-conditioned building.

And, I love heels.  Funny, the hosts wear them, but I never see them presented.  I know they carry them, and lucky for me sizing is not the issue in shoes the way it is for clothing; but boots are another story.  I've only found one pair of wide calf boots that are not vase-shaped and actually looked like their regular calf counterpart, and I did buy those pronto.

Re: After a trip to the mall, I thought about QVC

Very well said @songbird .  I don't think the Q's clothing is my style at all. I tend to dress more youthful than what qvc sells. Very matronly or as my daughters call them "grandma Clothes".  The large, loud wallpaper prints. long tunics, elbow length sleeves.  I can't remember how many, many years ago I actually purchased clothes for myself from the Q.   I shop online for many of my clothes,  Amazon, Venus, Boston Proper, CreationL HSN  are just a few of the companies that I shop from.  There are also a couple of boutiques in town I also shop from but qvc...nah.

[ Edited ]

Enjoyed reading everyone's posts/perspectives...

As for myself, I haven't set foot into a brick & mortar store for clothes since 2004. I discovered QVC that year when I was recovering from lung cancer surgery and haven't looked back.

And that store was Coldwater Creek. The other few stores I would frequent (for clothes) either in CT (my home state/before I married), or here in NE:

Dress Barn

Macy's

Dillards

JC Penney

Sears

That's it...

I don't miss shopping for clothes in-person either. I love QVC and have a wonderful wardrobe. Of coarse over the past few years I also have been shopping Ebay for deals/better prices on items I want, but for the most part, QVC gets my business. I started going to Ebay because it was costing a fortune replacing clothes constantly because of weight loss. I also was on a hunt to find replacements on pieces I loved but weren't made anymore. I'm grateful I found many of them in the size I wear now.

Going from a 2X/3X to a S/XS costs a small fortune.

I feel I dress 'in style' for someone in their mid-60's. I certainly don't think my grandmother at the age I am now would be caught dead in a pair of LOGO patchwork jeans or CCB skinny jeans...LOL

Re: After a trip to the mall, I thought about QVC

Wish I had a mall where I could shop but the ones within 20 miles of me have all closed; the one that is closest is huge and so full of busloads of tourists it's not worth going; seems to be groups shopping together in threes or fours....impossible to look at something with four people crowding around a rack...or walking next to each other down the mall...guess I am just too tired to fight the crowds. Anyway, many of the stores just look like they are geared towards high-shcool kids.

I don't require elastic-waist pants, but sometimes I prefer them if I want a sleek, flat look like when I am wearing a thin blouse. The drapery print tops are hard to avoid on QVC and i can't recall the last time I bought something to wear from Q. I am over 50 but that doesn't mean I have lot any sense of fashion. If the age 50-plus campaign isn't working, hopefully they will move on and just try to appeal to maybe a mediean age. I guess classic styles would be too much to hope for. I am so sick of the pedal pusher/short capri pant with chunky sneakers look I could scream. I never see anyone wearing anything close to what I see on Q; who is buying it? Orthopedic shoes and huge floral shirts and pants (which look like pjs to me) are a turn-off for almost everyone. Why don't they look at what other places are selling? Talbots? Chicos? Lands End? Even Coldwater Creek. At least get some ideas.
