I would definitely wear white. My hubs has zero white in his closet (except for tee shirts and undies). It sounds like a lovely gathering.

I don't own any white except one white button-down shirt and can't think of anything party-worthy that I would wear with it. So, no, I wouldn't wear white.
I always cringed when the subject of what to wear for group singing since I often didn't have the color some wanted to wear. It usually ended up being black bottoms and a dark top which, even that could be difficult with my wardrobe.

I agree many men have a white dress shirt. If not I think it's a basic garment to have on hand for special occasions or if nothing else to have for their own funeral.
Why in the world would someone need a white shirt for their own funeral? If that's not what he wears, why would he want to be buried in it? A lot of men now wear colored shirts even when wearing a suit or sport coat. I don't think there's a requirement for anyone to be dressed up for their funeral. Or maybe he plans to be cremated.

If I am invited to something and asked to wear something I'd do it or stay home. It's a pretty simple request.
I am not a contentious person nowdays. It is never worth it.

I don't think I'd wear white without knowing the reason why. Correction: I would not wear white without knowing the reason why.

Yes, of course I would wear white.
I have been to several events with themes of special designs and/or colors requested. Trying to match to the theme and/or color makes the event extra fun. Many people (like me) enjoy planning an outift like this in advance.
If the host is asking for this, saying he does not care does not really make sense, since he created the invitation. I think it is polite to try to meet the request, especially if the event will have many other high-level guests.
Winter whites are fun, and there are many options to create a great design, as simple as a long white silky scarf. For men a nice white sweater, of if more dressy, a white tie.
There may be photos published somewhere, and I would not want to "stick out like a sore thumb" apart from all the other people dressed in white.
My thought is that those who dress in white will be in the picture. Those who are not, will not be in the picture. This is probably being done somewhat as a marketing tool if this is a businessman.

I honestly have only heard of a White Party in the warm months not in the middle of this frigid Winter.
In our area that is when white parties are most significant, because it appears snow-like to have everyone dressed in white with a snow-mountain background, even though it may be a man-made one.

@vermint wrote:DH & I have NO white in our wardrobes...it's just not a color we look good in! Well, I do have a white tank top that I could wear under another color. But we would not be spending money to buy something to wear just once.
DH doesn't ever wear white dress shirts, either. And why would he need one for his own funeral?
You don't. Unless you choose cremation and you want a suit with a white shirt, you still will not need it. The funeral home can sell you a white shirt shroud for a few hundred bucks.

I'm wondering, if the host truly doesn't care if someone wears white or not, then why is he making the request?![]()

That's what I'm wondering too - However, I'd definitely go, and I'd deck myself out in the most gorgeous WHITE top/slacks/outfit I could find. ![]()
