@Bird mama wrote:So I received a letter yesterday from some company named Inmediata. They advised me that there was a data security breach discovered in January 2019 and that my data was exposed (not the SS number though). So I sat there thinking, who in the heck is this? I called the number to find out how this company received my PHI (protected health information) in the first place. I think their customer service was not in country (so to speak). The lady who answered the call (Mayte) decided to recite the contents of the letter.
I said, I don't know your company from Adam. What gave you access to my PHI? Mayte wasn't prepared for that question I'm fortunate that I see two doctors and that's only once per year per doctor.
Mayte said it had to do with insurance. I said, not likely. I retired from the insurance company that insures me and they don't use you. I'm 99.9% sure that my health system doesn't use you. My ob/gyn however uses a tablet for patients to register each year and in January they provided me a link to register online (ahead of time) and like an idiot I registered ahead of time.
Mayte confirmed that was how they got my PHI.
SMH, one of the downsides of the government insisting on electronic medical records.
This stuff scares me. I read on MSN yesterday where Google tracks us if we use their apps. Why? Why does Google do that? I find that creepy.
you might be able to turn that off, go in to settings
I turned most of it off

I think my health portals are different, no?
In order to communicate through one of the portals, it is like trying to go through the US Treasury. Many many stop-gaps such as name and password.
And in order to set it up, I have to get a token from the doctor’s staff.
They send my results through it too.
Now my derm, Dr. McDermy, (see pic) (McSteamy/Eric Dane)
his office has a portal , which his nurse said “we don’t use it.”
My PCP’s office has a nurse who, I think, loves technology. It is so handy to send a message thru to them/her about something and I get a rapid response! I just love that!
they all might be different, but even though I love the ease of tech, I don't like them . more PWs and it's not necessary for me

@LTT1 This is funny. Along the same lines, DH got a new Iphone from his boss/work. Neither of us have Iphones (this is a laugh riot by many I know). When he first got it he'd talk to Siri stuff, once I was standing with him and called out to Siri. She said she didn't recognize 'that voice'. She & DH laughed. I called her a b*tch, she called me a b*tch. Then she laughed. I walked away.
This has now become a real joke b/t DH & me.
