She told me something I hadn't known -- UPS and USPS hand off things in mid-flight. An item can be sent part way to the customer then the carrier decides to hand it off to the other. Of course when that happens there's no more tracing it.

Yuck hate that when there's no tracing, 

as a customer I just don't like this handing off from one carrier to another, just way too easy for stuff to go missing.

Luckily I can know when stuff arrives from UPS to Post office and it's a small town here
