He must have been trained by Lori Goldstein's young male sidekick.

I have to google sloppy joes - is it a nickname for outfits or was it a brand?
It was a brand. I don't think it was very successful. You probably won't find anything about it.

I like him a lot. I always enjoyed his presentations and this is the first time I noticed that. As soon as he came on the air I thought his stance was kind of weird.

I like him, too. He is always well prepared and does a nice job on air.

I have a hard time believing that Joan would have approved this item.

Oh Bird, another book lover! I'm glad you got to enjoy the DK series.
I've gotten on a WWI kick lately... my grandfather had fought in it as a young man (and both GF's serviced in WWII) and I realized I STILL didn't understand why it started. Well I read Robert Massie's book (900 pages, exquisitely written) and now I'm hooked. I read a second book by Adam Hochschild also great, and found out Massie wrote a follow up about the naval aspect. I'm hooked. My friends think I'm nuts.
For my book club I've been reading Elizabeth Warren's "A Fighting Chance." I wasn't excited about it before hand, thought it would be rather dry. It's not, it's a great read. I don't know how she makes the bank meltdown and policy wonkism so easy to grasp, at least the gist of things, but she does.
I also do not own a "reading device"... though I've thought maybe I should get with it. Our libraries loan a bunch of those e-books so you can check out and return without leaving your living room.

Same here. I think I saw it once. I won't be able to watch at all once the older hosts start retiring. I can't relate to any of the younger ones.
