I have a kitten heel to wear w/ some dresses, but they certainly would not be my favorite shoe. I wish I could wear beautiful high heel sandals or pumps, but my feet just won't tolerate them anymore. I would probably roll my ankle and fall on my tush if I tried to walk in some of those beautiful shoes.

i dont follow these "rules" or recommendations by "wardrobe experts" at all. i have never heard of nikol johnson.

i will say that only 3 of those things are staples in my wardrobe currently.

i am not about to run off and buy the other 6 that i am missing. LOL

Nine Items

Black Blazer......havent worn a blazer since probably the early 90s.

Trench Coat.....no trench coat. i am HOT all the time and rarely use coats anymore.

White Oxford button down shirt....nope

The "Perfect" jean for you....YES, finding the perfect jeans are everything, but those perfect jeans can sometimes be changed out for a different perfect jean.

The "Perfect" trouser for you.....YES, i do need some specifics in trousers and they are usually black....no pockets, clean line, higher waistline.

Striped Sweater......no horizontal stripes EVER! vertical design is okay

Reversible belt......no belts worn. 

Slip Dress......not with my hips! lol

Kitten heel shoe......pretty much the only heel i will wear anymore, unless it is a short, stacked heel.

For me a leather jacket, wool coat, a pair of jeans, black trousers, a solid light sweater, a black simple dress, boots, button up chambray shirt and dressy black top.

Great list for your essential items. I have most of your items too. One you mention i forgot about, is the RL chambray shirt hanging in my closet. It's a great item that can be worn so many ways.

Some good points, but I'll never wear a "kitten heel".   I'd go for either flats or a decent heel.
