50's fashion: Tea for two movie

I'm loving the fashion in this movie. I'm so glad it's in color so I can see those feminine styles in all their glory. Every scene has someone wearing something gorgeous. Here's an extra in several dance scenes wearing what I think would make a really cute swimsuit.

All it needs is support cups. What do you think? I'm talking about the yellow suit specifically.

I am not sure about it. I don’t really like the rick rack on it. The waist seems to be at a weird place. if it were just a little bit lower, it would accentuate this woman’s waist, better, I think. But, the reality is that most people don’t have a figure like that woman, so it might look costume-ish on most people. it looks like the entire thing is smocked?

I do like the green shirt. I can’t tell if it is made from a woven material or knit material.

Yes, I also noticed that green shirt. As far as the yellow suit, it would need tweaking but it's the overall look I like. A more forgiving waistline with that pleated skirt would be darling. What I did notice was the use of gorgeous materials.

The movie was set in 1929 but not a '29 piece of fashion in sight until the end. That was ok. I love the feminine styles of the 50's, after the masculine trends of the 40's. Here's another from the film. I love the richness and contrast of colors.

@GoodyShoes

Is this your green shirt? She's standing behind the girl in the pleated outfit. IMG_20230915_114218202.jpg

That green top is def woven @GoodyShoes.
It's the details I like. The little extra details like bows and frills. I'm girly I know and not everyone likes what I like. More than anything, the materials used really stand out in this Technicolor.
I like this top Eve Arden is wearing. I'd wear it with black trousers and boots.

Did they have polyester or man-made fabrics back then?

@LTT1
I assume so but without all the cheap span in poly today, I would imagine. I should look up who did the clothing in this movie. There is many more I haven't included that were lovely. I realize this is a movie and no expense was spared in outfitting the actors but surely some translated in wearable, everyday looks for the general population.

I'd wear that green shirt just like it is with a slightly longer sleeve.
