We have a HP desktop that is 12 years old and still runs perfectly. we have a Dell laptop that is about 6 years old (first year they had windows 7) and it also still runs like new - though we have had issues with chargers and have had to buy 2 already. I had a dell mini that ran well esp as it was very inexpensive - but broke when it was dropped at the airport by the TSA guy, and i replaced it with an Asus tablet that I love.

Why not try a Mac? Good reputation. Apple has offers of no interest for 6,9, 18 months, depending on how much you spend. No virus worries. The best support. Beautiful graphics. Several screen sizes to choose from.

I've had Dell and I'm done with Dell!!!!!! The very worst customer support. HP isn't much better. Do your homework and good luck!

I've had both Dell and HP desk top computers. I currently have an HP which I love! I have used customer service once last year when the motherboard died on me. Customer service was here in the U.S. And not a call center in India! I did end up having to ship it to HP for repair but they provided the packing materials and box and paid for shipping both ways. Total turnaround time was 8 days. I never had that kind of service with Dell at all! Sticking with HP! HTH

We have an HP desktop & 2 HP laptops. I don't care for Dell. I would buy one from Sam's Club. They have better prices with more memory, larger hard drive & better processor. Looks like most of the laptops Q has are AMD instead of Intel which we prefer. Compare the Specs.

Toshiba made the first laptop years ago and it is the best! Check out their web site. Great to deal with. This year they made their first desktop all in one. Ordering it this week as they sell a3 year in home warranty. Great tech support too. Can't go wrong with Toshiba.

I have had only Dell and have had no issues with the product.

I buy from a local shop and get my tech support there, which is maybe installing windows maybe every 18 months ?

I looked at Staples where they told me Toshiba was the absolute best (because they were selling them)

I would just look at what is available where you live. look at reviews online and decide what you want to spend.

You referenced easy pay if that is necessary for you maybe wait until the next computer TSV when you might get a more updated item.

I have had several laptops. I like Toshiba but currently have a HP. I had purchased a Dell at Costco and out of the box some of the keys would not work. I did not feel confident in getting another Dell so I exchanged it for the HP and I have been happy with it. I would never buy a Dell. Years ago, I think they were the best but not anymore.

I agree! Try a Mac; you won't be disappointed!

I think the days of laptops and desktops are coming to an end. I use only an IPAD and a smartphone. I dumped the Dell years ago and don't regret it.
