rjmh, if you know for sure that Verizon doesn't work well in your area, then I would not activate the Ultimate 2 as it uses Verizon towers. If you do and don't like the phone or can't make/receive phone calls/texts, your service days can be transferred back to your LG 840G (which uses ATT towers by the way), but you will lose your minutes as they cannot be transferred to a non-android phone.

Also, the bars you keep referring to are signal strength bars. They have nothing to do with your battery charge.
