I am very tech unsavey. I'm going to purchase a new laptop soon with all the bells and whistles that will handle photos, movies, etc., and plan to pay a premium price. In the meantime, I would like to buy a tablet. I would like the tablet to do the following:

Easy portablility, decent battery life, easy access to the internet and email, download web pages rather quickly (not necessarily with lightning speed, but reasonable), play minor games and videos. I know that is not alot for today's technologies, but that is what I want this piece of equipment to do. I do not plan to download books. I don't think I should need to pay alot for what I am asking.

I want to use free WiFi sites. Right now, I have just a simple cell phone and don't even text. I don't know if I will want to eventually use cell phone technology to access the web.

Please recommend some tablets for me. I don't want to be blindsided or pay for a lot more than I want it to do.
