"OK Google" Question For Tracfone LG Fiesta Users

I never thought much about this feature. It's always just "been there" lol. It's nice to simply ask about weather, for example. Suddenly, tho, I'm not getting VOICE responses. Instead, I'm getting articles to open and read--as I'd get, for example, if I asked for a recipe.

I checked online and, of course, can't find anything specific to this phone. But there are some suggestions to go to "Google Now app" and check "voice response." There IS no such app to access on this phone. Also, even if I knew where the settings were, I haven't changed any settings, anyway, so I don't know why this would've changed. It's a nice feature to get a quick response--and Melissa ALWAYS demonstrates this when selling TFs. Any suggestions? I don't know who this Siri-like Google lady is, but on my phone, she's now MUTE lol!

Re: "OK Google" Question For Tracfone LG Fiesta Users

I tried my LG Fiesta and it “will answer” when you ask to send a message to a cell phone. When I asked the weather and it brings items up to view on the screen-as you said.

I went to Google Chrome and deleted the history on my Fiesta. I believe this should remove the history but not sure.

I don’t use the Google Assistant. It is just a pain to keep clicking off. It may help other people. Sometimes when apps update they change things.

I have the HiYa App to block calls and never had a problem. Then after an update it started blocking everyone that called- even me from my home phone to my cell. I contacted the developer and he said to delete it and reinstall and it works fine again.

Hope someone can help you more than me.

@MKR14 thanks. I've deleted history (do that regularly), but am still not getting voice responses for simple inquiries, as I did before.

And you're right about app updates. I always set the phone to *not* receive auto updates, as they can create mischief lol. Though not an important issue, it's just baffling as to why this feature would suddenly not work.

You learn something new every day. For example, I didn't know that Google Now and Google Assistant were two different things--or that I even HAD Google Assistant on this phone. Well, I do...and so I'm using GA, instead, and that IS providing voice responses! Plus, I decided to choose a different voice--that of a "chipper" young man lol! Isn't technology great?!

FOUND THE ANSWER!!  My Google wasn’t talking to me when I asked to send a text message. I found online that the Media sound could be off. I went under Settings, Sound and Media and slid the bar all the way to the right and voila! It works great now.

I never touched anything so an update much have changed it.

Re: "OK Google" Question For Tracfone LG Fiesta Users

@MKR14 I'm glad that worked for you, but the LG Fiesta has no "Media" option in Settings>Sound. That's why I asked specifically about this phone. Sadly, even online discussions about this issue had to do with other phone brands, and their settings were different, too. Also, I hadn't *changed* any settings--she was talking one day, and not the next. I suspect, as you said, it might have to do with updating/not updating. According to info online, this is a common "glitch."

Anyway, I'm now using Google Assistant, and HE'S (I changed the voice lol) speaking the responses. I got this phone a year and a half ago, and didn't even know I *had* that option!

Here is what my LG Fiesta 2 has if anyone needs it. It is Sound and then under Volume. It took me a few minutes to figure it out myself. I will also check out the Google Assistant sometime.

Oh, OK...Yes, it's under "volume," which I didn't think to open up lol. It *was* set to the highest volume, too. And in my never-ending saga of Google Now...she's squawking again! I asked for the temperature to try again, and got her voice response. Very strange, so it just must be something within the stock app.

And, yes, MKR NY, check out the Google Assistant--might as well use these devices 100%!
