"No SIM card found" Message / New TracFone

Hi Everyone,
We recently got a brand new LG TracFone from QVC, and when we went to activate it (ported over our old number from another TracFone) and went to make calls etc, we keep getting a message on the Home Screen saying "No Sim Card Found"- we've tried many things including turning phone off and on, carefully removing the SIM card from it's tray, making sure it was inserted properly, putting it back in tray correctly, putting tray back in phone, going through settings and checking permissions, doing updates lol, clearing cache, NOTHING is working no matter what we try.
We tried calling TracFone CS and they were completely useless ugh. I couldn't understand half of what they said (foreign), but one thing they were HUGELY stuck on was taking the SIM card in and out of tray and putting back in phone, which did NOT help lol- at one point they suggested it could be possibly DEFECTIVE and told us WE need to go out and buy a new SIM card, which I was not pleased with - if it's defective, TracFone should step up and provide a replacement IMO.
Has anyone run into this problem and found a way to fix it? I'm also wondering if the activation wasn't done properly in some way, asked CS this and they had no real answer.
Thanks SO much for any help, this was the hubby's Christmas gift so this has been very disappointing!

Sounds like you've suffered sufficient aggravation.  I'd return the phone and ask for a replacement.

I've heard people say you can explain that you can understand the CS reps, ask for a native English speaker and get an American CS rep.

You're very welcome! I also get frustrated when I'm trying to communicate with someone I can't even understand, due to their heavy accent.

BTW, I'm a 'Dooney Gal' too with some Brahmin thrown in!

Re: "No SIM card found" Message / New TracFone

If you think it is a defective SIM card, then you can buy a BYOP (bring your own phone) kit at Walmart and other retailers for about $0.99 that will have a new SIM card in it. (Typically, three new SIM cards in it. One for each size SIM card in use these days.) If you have an old Tracfone you could also try moving the SIM card from that phone to the new phone and see if it helps. SIM cards and micro-SD cards can be a bit tricky to get inserted just right. Some of the SIM card trays are a bit rickety and flimsy.
