Despite the silly name,I've been thinking about buying one. My old flip phone is completely obsolete so it's time to make a change.

Does anyone hae a "Jitterbug"? Can you keep your original number or can you change it if you want to? Is really as easy to use as the ads say they are?

And what about the price? Do you think it's worth what you have to pay? Are there any little "gotchas" to look out for?

As far as I can tell, you're not tied into a contract and for me, that's a plus, although not a make-or-break deal.

And before someone jumps on me and tells me to call Jitterbug and ask these questions, I'd prefer to get information from the actual users. TIA

If it's from GreatCall, we had terrible customer service from them.  Had an emergency call button necklace for my mom...she didn't like it, had an awful time getting them to cancel the service.  It seems like all the senior-type helper devices come through GreatCall.  I don't recommend getting involved with them.

I do not have one but have also been considering one. On the website it says no contracts. no cancellation fee, can keep exsisting number, 100 percent american based customer service. So that may answer some of your questions. What I don't like is, I think I read somewhere, that you cannot carry over unused minutes.

Have you looked into Consumer Cellular?  We used to use Tracfone and had the old flip phones but didn't get good reception anywhere with those things so went to Target to investigate what CC was all about and it is very reasonable and the reception is wonderful with new phones.  DH got a Samsung Galaxy 7 and I got an Apple SE, which I love because it is a very small phone.  We pay about $45.00 for the two of us per month.  (The phones ran around $150 each.)

IMO an inexpensive Tracfone would be a better deal.

You don't need to use all of the features to have a good basic phone.

You can remove the icons you are not interested in.

I use Tracfone for a telephone and text only.  I know how to surf the web and Google on it, but why??  I have a computer and 2  tablets to use for the web.  I like a full keyboard for typing.

It is a good basic phone for $59 a year isn't bad.

I have the Jitterbug Smartphone and I am very happy with the service from Great Call.  I have used the Customer Service with great success.  I have loaded apps and have wonderful reception.  I took the plan with 200 phone minutes, 300 texts, and 500 data and I hooked up my wi fi, which was easy.  I get any unused phone minutes transferred to the next month.  So I often have 350 + minutes as I don't use the phone part constantly.  So, overall, I am happy with the Jitterbug.

Don't have the Jitterbug, but 2 of my friends did till I turned them to Tracfone. Had TF for around 10 years, good reception and no problems. Nothing I saw could beat my around $6 a month cost.

Don't use it much but do have a newer LG 5.5" I updated to recently. Phone and all still figured around $6 a month. Thought I would throw in how much I like my many Tracfones and the good connections, better than my wife's with her Sprint connections.

I've had a Jitterbug for about 14 years. Started with the little Jitterbug, then moved to different versions through the years. I seldom use a cellphone so have stayed with my "dumbphone," which is a Jitterbuy flip phone a few years old. It works for what I use a phone for. I cannot comment on their smartphones other than to say my neighbor has one and loves it.

I have not had an issue with any of the phones I've had. I mainly wanted to comment on service. I have had nothing but good customer service over the years. Can't think of any time I had a problem. My contact with CS was when I upgraded a phone or added minutes, etc. Their offers are different now from when I first began using the phone.

Good luck!

I haven't looked recently at the Pay As You Go Phones.  I think the trac phones may be the best value.  I looked at the service a few years ago hoping that it would be a cheaper option for my kids.  We don't have a home phone so I need a way to communicate with them when I'm not there.  The cost of Pay As You Go was more than if I just added another line to my account.  Trac Phones would have been the only less expensive option I have found.

When it comes to the Jitterbug the only Gotcha that I can see in their rate plans.  Be sure to only get what you need and will use.
