Have a new laptop with 8.1 and having some trouble with pop-ups.  I've turned the blocker off and on and nothing works.

When I go into the Joann fabric website it fades and a box to enter e-mail comes up.  I click on the little x in the upper right corner but it just stays there.  So I can't get into the website.

When I go to my aol home page a bank advertisement comes up and I don't see any way to get rid of it.  My old computer Windows XP use to have a thing that said Close Ad.

Maybe it's not the blocker I should be looking at?  Thanks for your help.

@cuddles, it doesn't sound like a pop-up per se, but rather the website wanting you to sign in to get to see the contents. You may want to email (or call?) the company.

I have Windows 8.1 and went to Joann.com.  The email box popped up and I clicked the X and it went away.  Are you clicking on the little x in the corner of the email box?

Yes I clicked on it several times.  I went on to Joann this morning and that box didn't pop up.  Let's hope it's gone for good.

I get those annoying "pop ups" despite the pop up blockers and ad blockers.

I don't want a billion emails every hour.  My solution is to put in the company's email address (ie, info@joanne.com).  The next time I go to that site, no pop ups.
