panasonic 5 set cordless phone

item #634-144 on HSN does anyone own this or have experience with it? it seems like a good way to eliminate the expense of a  landline . We have cell phones and a landline mainly because I do not always have my cell phone with me around the house (DH always has his). I keep the landline as I am afraid in an emergency I would delay things because I could not locate my cell. THis sounds like a good solution. Just wondered if anyone was familiar with this.

Re: panasonic 5 set cordless phone

 We purchased this set at Costco in December for $79.99 on sale.  It is great because it blocks robo calls.  We get several a day.  The caller has to press one for the call to continue or you can press a button to let the call through or add the number to your caller list.  Obviously, a computer doesn't know it should press one!!!  My life has definitely been more quiet and peaceful.  The only problem we have had with it is a buzzing from the base unit when I place the handset back in the stand.  This happens very occaionally.  We unplug the entire unit and let it sit for a minute then plug it back in.  We returned the phone to Costco because we thought it was defective.  The second one does the same thing.  My husband is retired from AT & T and doesn't think that it is a problem since it always reboots the system when it's plugged in.  We bought this to replace another Panasonic cordless system that was 12 years old.  I hope this one lasts that long.  Even if it doesn't, I love the call block feature.

Re: panasonic 5 set cordless phone

I'd never heard of them, but looking at it, it looks really neat. In a house with multiple people I might be afraid of it locking out your cellphone if you were out someplace and needed to use the cell, but someone was talking on the Panasonic at the time and using your cell to do so. I'd want to know if you could disconnect them from your cellular phone to make an emergency call (or non-emergency call) if need be. You'd also probably want an unlimited plan or else someone could use all your talk time without realizing it. It's a clever concept though. It would be awkward to be out someplace where you needed to make a call, but someone back at home was using your cellular service on the Panasonic phone and there was nothing you could do to stop them.

Re: panasonic 5 set cordless phone

This probably wouldn't be a problem in our household as there is only DH and myself. We each have our seperate cells. HSN offered a coupon to us with $20. off and I called and was told it would apply to this and it is free sh&h today only.

I am having trouble deciding whether our phones are compatable . Mine is a tracphone (Samsung) I believe both are smartphones (not sure how smart this owner is Smiley Happy ) but I need to make sure of phones before end of day and ordering. I would love to eliminate $30.+ monthly at&t charge !

TY for the input=helpful.

Since many people on here are retired - and I've never seen emergency equipment (Land Line type  program) mentioned...I'll add this point about giving up landlines.  IF you want or need an emergency alert button/machine you must have a land line.  There are several systems on the market now so some might work with your cell.  Just a thought.

@Tuppermore

Tried this and another new Panasonic model. While older models worked fine, neither of these newer, similar models(call blocking/cell access) worked well in our home. No matter what settings I used, there was always a buzzing when talking on it. I gave up and returned both.

Bought a 4 set AT&T, and it works just find. I like that it has Smart Call Block(keeps it from ringing UNLESS the number calling is in your phone directory) and also will block 1,000 numbers.

We have this set.  The call blocker is awesome and the phones are very similar to our previous set (whose batteries are no longer replaceable in the handsets).  Nice.  Also at Costco for $79.

What I don't understand here is if you lose your landline, how does it forward those calls to your cell?  You would no longer have access to that phone number.

@aggravated  you use your cells ( up to two) and of course their #s is my understanding.

Re: panasonic 5 set cordless phone

I bought this set years ago from Costco.

I still had a landline, but paired my cell phone to it so that no matter where I was in the house, I could answer my cell phone since I am one of the last 5 people who do not have their phone attached to their hand or in their pocket ;o)
