I have a 2012 Malibu with 30,000 miles on it so I'm not in the market for a new car.

i want something on the dash that will actually hold my phone. I've tried 2 but they don't hold the phone over many bumps. One didn't have arms holding the phone. The other had arms but is too heavy to stay in place.

Recommendations?

One of my BF with an older car had her DH screw down a holder for her.  Trying to remember, but it seems to have clips on the bottom and sides.  Does not move.  Not long arms, just a mount.

Of course her dash has holes, but her phone is fine.

Would that work for you?

@CalminHeart  I bought a car cup holder type iphone holder on Amazon that works great. It turns to adjust its size to fit the width of the cup holder, has height adjustability, & can be adjusted to turn.

There are grips on either side that get pressed together to hold the phone in place, & a small piece that sits under the phone. A button on the back releases the side grips to remove the phone.

The cup holder unit is very sturdy & works well for me.

@CalminHeart

You need a dashboard mount that look like this......

The part that holds the phone can turn vertically & horizontally as well as custom fit to prevent the phone from falling during bumpy rides.

The above type of mounts can be found at any retailer as well as Amazon.
