iPhone 4S Question

It was a long time coming, but finally put away my 3GS and purchased a 4S.

Every morning when I turn on my phone, a dialog box pops up, when I tap a news app: says something to the effect that I'm not connected to the internet. Every day when I see this, and it only occurs with the first app tap, I'm in my recliner about 8' from the modem and router. It fails to update that particular news app, so I move on to another one with success (have 4 news apps).

Anyone out there know why I'm getting this dialog box?
