Re: iPad With or Without 2 yr Contract

Just remember that FREE WIFI is unsecured. Do not go into sites that you would need to log into. Like here. That's why I bought my mini with 4 g through Sprint, so if I had to I could log on...say on vacation, in the car, ect.

I have a Wi-Fi iPad. I do not take my pad out of house. I use my smartphone on vacation or in the car. My handbag weights enough. I do not use free internet, but my data plan.

I did not know that for sure but assumed that was probably the case. My iPad is Wi-Fi/Cellular through AT&T. When I'm not using my Wi-Fi at home I buy the AT&T Data Connect Pass Plan to use in the car or when traveling. When I bought mine you only had a choice between AT&T & Verizon. I guess now they also have Sprint & T-Mobile.

Re: iPad With or Without 2 yr Contract

Why would you need a two year contract (or any contract at all) for an iPad? I'm confused.

If you want to be able to use it on 4G, if its wifi it will only work at home or at a hot spot

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

You don't need a 2 year contract. You can enable 4G then cancel as you no longer need it.

Re: iPad With or Without 2 yr Contract

You can back it up on the Apple cloud and then transfer to your new iPad. Most carriers will require a contract and charge you a monthly fee is you get their connectivity. Verizon charges $40 per month for each smartphone and iPad.

Exactly. No contract needed. Pay as you need to.

It depends on the wireless company. This is information about Verizon

Re: iPad With or Without 2 yr Contract

I'm confused, as the post title is about an iPad but the body of the post and actual question seem to be about a computer.

To preserve things, you move them off the old computer and store them elsewhere. You could use an external hard drive, CDs, DVDs, or the cloud.

An iPad has no USB connection and no CD/DVD drive, so if you want to get them from your old computer to an iPad, you'll need to get the content online (the cloud is a good method) and then download it onto the iPad.

Since you've made no decisions yet, I would make an appointment with someone at the Apple Store and tell them what you have now and what you would like to have next. They can help you come up with a plan that works for you and recommend products that work with that plan.
