While I understand your POV, because I went through something similar with the cost of illness wiping me out financially, I don't think the financial place you're at now is the financial place that I'm at, and if you are currently working (and/or if you have a spouse who is working) then you're in a financial place that I can never be in again.
I know that you folks probably don't realize it, but there is such a tone of self-righteousness in your posts when you tell others how they should be saving up money each month. I understand your well-meaning intention by it, but frankly, I don't need to be told by people not living my life how I should manage it, just because from the outside-looking-in, I don't seem to be doing things the "right" way. Unless you are walking in my shoes and living my life experiences, it seems to me the height of hubris to tell me that I should not get what I want when I want it, if a mechanism exists for me to pay for it in a manner that is acceptable to me, just because it is not what you would do yourselves.
Those of us who make the decision to buy from QVC instead of somewhere else are not hurting any of you. We are doing what works for us in our lives, not yours.

What we recommend makes good financial sense. If you find it self righteous or you get defensive, ask yourself why? If you are really OK with how you spend your money, why do you care what I think?

Actually, regarding this matter, I don't, though I do value your opinion on other topics where I've read your posts. (I'd insert a peace sign here if QVC had one in their smilies.
)
I just like to present an alternative POV to try to explain why others do what they do, and why it makes sense to them in their particular situation, when the world is telling them that they should be doing something else. You can see it as defensive, just like I can view some of the preceding posts as self-righteous. I am not defending what I do, merely explaining it, and telling why I view it as a sensible choice for someone in my particular financial position.

Why? Because it *is* self-righteous and condescending in the guise of "helpful advice." It is no one's business but the purchaser why they purchase what they do and why they do and how they pay for it.. I don't even have a dog in this fight, and it stands out like a sore thumb. Have fun lecturing to the uneducated masses so badly in need of your counsel.
