iPad Email Problem

Since I have downloaded the last update sometimes when I click the edit to pick emails I want to delete & click trash & click trash messages my iPad flashes back to the home screen. I have to open the email & do the process over again & it always seems to work the 2nd time. Anyone else having this problem? How do I fix it? I have already what I call re-booted the iPad several times & it's still doing it. Very annoying. I thought when they had fixes for bugs it would have fixed the problem but it's still doing it.
