Sorry but, your statement isn't true. An iPad mini isn't the same tablet. I have an iPad 3 and it no longer can get IOS updates. As far as I know and have read, there aren't any viruses for iPads no matter what size or model.

You're welcome, @LTT1! I have a background in IT, programming, etc., which helps in understanding the more detailed side of using these devices. Generally, though, one advantage of Apple devices is that the user normally doesn't need to be techy. They began with this goal with their earliest devices, and thankfully other companies took note and tried to make their devices more user-friendly, too. For anyone seeing the webpage reload frequently when they visit websites with their iPad, here's some info I've posted before on other threads.
Regarding webpage reloads: On older devices, unfortunately this problem will eventually start happening. You can try the usual troubleshooting steps (I'll add a copy of my usual suggested steps in the next post), and that might help. You also can try disabling Javascript (in Settings, Safari, Advanced), but you'll find that some features won't work as well or at all and some pages won't show up... so you'll find yourself toggling it off and on. Disabing Javascript is a work-around, but not a very handy one.
Another option is to use the "Reader View" on sites that allow it (just look in the URL box as the page loads and you'll see the icon and the words "Reader View Available.") Just click the icon to activate this feature.

Basic troubleshooting tips for iPad and iPhone:
1. Be sure you have the most recent version of iOS.
(just go into Settings, choose "General," and then tap "About" to see the "Version.")
2. Close the multi-tasking apps running in the background.
(Double-click the Home button to see recently used apps and then swipe each one up to close all the apps.)
3. Clear cookies, cache and website data in Safari.
(Go to Settings, then choose Safari, then choose "Clear History and Website Data" and tap "Clear" when you see the popup.
Then, choose Safari, "Advanced," "Website Data," and clear all that. It won't harm anything, your saved login info -- user ID, passwords -- will remain intact.)
4. Try a simple “Restart”
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
5. Try a “Hard Reset"
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about eight seconds. This will force the device to turn off, even if it's frozen.
If it doesn't automatically restart, just press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo.
6. If you still have problems, perform a sync/backup (either with iTunes on your computer or on the iCloud -- whatever you normally do). This should be done frequently, and not only does it ensure you have a good backup it also frees up space (including removing the stored "Diagnostics & Usage" data) and can clear up a myriad of software glitches.
7. Completely erasing/resetting the iPad and restoring it from backup can fix many problems. It's imperative that you first perform a complete backup, unless you simply want to remove everything you've saved and restore the device to factory settings and start from scratch.
Research this first and be 100% sure you're comfortable taking this step, or do it with Apple Support or someone with experience guiding you through it.

I agree with the poster above me I have a Ipad2 and got the update and installed it . Sounds like a virus to me.

I remember we discussed this on an older thread... you have an iPad mini 2 which does accommodate the iOS 10.x software. The regular iPad 2, cannot download anything past iOS 9.3.5 (it would be physically impossible to install any updates past that one). I, personally, use a 2012 iPad 3rd generation, which is even newer than the iPad 2, and I cannot install the new iOS 10.x updates.
Your iPad mini 2, on the other hand, is compatible with and accepts the new iOS updates. If you'll look at a few of the previous posts on this thread, several of us listed devices and iOS compatibility.
I wanted to reply because I don't want @SouthernBee to be misled and think somehow she can update the iOS on her iPad 2. Also, this is not about a virus, and the numerous posts have explained the issues involved. Hope this makes sense... I've been up all night with a migraine, and just checked in here briefly to look at a couple of things and saw your post.

Okay... I stand corrected. I do have a newer Ipad And I was surprised when I opened my old Ipad after not using it for quite awhile and saw what I thought was a update. Thanks for all the information listed and have a nice day!![]()
